Bleach: Home of the Hidden Ancients - Chapter 4 (Fan Fiction)

Chapter 4: Day 1 - Training Begins and Ends

Karin wasn’t sure what Mr Urahara had in store for her training. But she certainly didn’t think that dying had anything to do with it. He was only up to step two in the training and as soon as she blinked half a blade was protruding from her stomach. Feverishly warm blood steadily streamed out of the wound. That was the first thing she felt; the sticky red liquid. Then it was the pain jolting up her spine, before she crumpled to the ground. She lay there a while starting to comprehend what her new teacher had done.

Ā ā€œW-why with the blade a-and theā€¦ā€ She barely whispered. It was a pathetic attempt and if she had enough energy she would feel embarrassed.

Ā ā€œI told you before. This part of the training is the most crucial. Your brother did it a little differently but as you know he was a special case. When your body starts giving up you should be able to find a place between your mind in this world and your mind in the spirit world. Find your powers there,ā€ He answered with such a casual tone you would’ve thought he was ordering take-away.

Ā Karin tried to move her head to look up at him. As soon as she met his eyes she gave him a bitter glare. ā€œI don’t find them… I die,ā€ she guessed.

Ā Mr Urahara crouched down to her level.

ā€œOh it’s not just you who will die. My life depends on your success as well Ms Kurosaki.ā€ She was about to argue when she stopped herself, mouth agape. If I die here because of this then… ā€œYes Karin. Your brother is a smart and easy to anger boy. If you’re found killed, soon after he, your family and his friends will seek out my head. So I wish you good luck. You and I both need it.ā€ He tipped his hat to her and walked off to his chair and book.

Ā I wish we were back at step one, Karin thought dryly. At least that involved less pain and a better chance of survival. Dodging a little girl’s superhuman punches seemed like a simple enough goal. Now she had no idea what she had to do. She wondered what Mr Urahara had meant about Ichigo being a ā€œspecial caseā€. Maybe he needed the beginners level because he was such a hothead. But then again ,Mr Urahara had just described him as ā€˜smart’.

Ā Maybe Karin had to be a bit more flexible with her views of Ichigo. Besides he’d kept his Soul Reaper secret for quite a while… and he had somehow managed to survive his training. So I have to be open minded and sharp in this step, she deducted. Learn from others trials’…

Ā Karin was pulled away from her thoughts by a new pain forming in her chest. She inched her head to look down at herself. See through chains were forming near her heart. Her muscles ran ahead of her mind process and she painfully rolled over to see her body in the corner of the rocky landscape. The chains were becoming less solid near her real body. She looked back and forth with panic. Her sight began to blur, her limbs felt heavy and the pain from the stab wound had gone numb.

Ā ā€œLooks like it’s happening,ā€ Mr Urahara commented from his chair. ā€œMake sure you find them okay? I’d like to live a couple of decades longer.ā€

Ā His voice echoed to behind her eyelids. Her mind fell out of consciousness and death hung in the air, ready to claim it’s next soul.

It hurts because us viewing the story can see it and know how the fall of the republic and the Jedi happens in the end BUT having all the correct puzzle pieces scattered all around the doesn't make solving the puzzle any easier for those characters. Also ,as Yoda has to come face to face with in season six and throughout the clone wars, is that the Jedi had been pulled to deep into the war and were losing themselves continuing the war whilst losing the senate by trying to be both Jedi and generals in the war.Ā

Even if the Jedi had fully comprehended and figured out what was going on, Palpatine had gained so much favour from so many different parties in the senate, if the Jedi tried anything out of the ordinary to stop him it would back fire on them anyway because the senate would favour his word over theirs. Remember there’s a lot of mystery surrounding the Jedi. Some people don’t even know what they are or what they really do. It’d be like the debate over politics or religion to many citizens of the republic. But with the religious aspect having it’s values corrupted by war by leading it.Ā

That’s why the fall of the Jedi is so tragic. Because even when they were so close to figuring everything out and putting an end to the sith, there was nothing they could do about it. Because if they did, they’d lose themselves and lose the republic.Ā

by far the most MADDENING thing for me about clone wars s6 is that the jedi council literally has every piece of the puzzle they need to avert order 66. AND THEY DIDN’T DO It. and i can’t tell if the writers just gave them the idiot ball or if they were just so fucking focused on sidious and his schemes that they missed the threat that was RIGHT THERE.Ā

they know the clones haveĀ ā€œaggression inhibitorā€ chips in their heads. they know tup’s chip degraded and caused him to execute master tiplar. they know he was chantingĀ ā€œgood soldiers follow orders kill the jedi.ā€ they know that a sith lord, under the guise of a jedi, commissioned the clone army. and, assuming anakin told them what fives said before he was killed, they also know the conspiracy goes all the way to the chancellor. THEY HAD EVERYTHING THEY NEEDED TO FIGURE THIS OUT. AND DIDN’T. FFSĀ

Arya Stark To Winterfell

An small idea of if / when Arya ever makes the trek back home to Jon, Sansa, Rickon and hopefully Bran. Her struggle with what she’s been through.

—————————————-

ā€œThe girl is no oneā€

As the girl rested her eyes on the snowy forests she’d once known so well, this mantra echoed in her mind.

ā€œThe girl is no oneā€

Once a girl had played here with her dire wolf. Once a girl had hidden here from her ginger sister’s wrath. Once a girl had secretly trained here with dreams of becoming the best swordsman in all of Westeros.

ā€œThe girl is no oneā€

That girl is no one now. She isn’t trudging through the woods broken boned and bleeding across the pale snow. She’ll never have anymore desires of reaching her home once more. Arya Stark is dead.

But a different sort of chanting started to echo in her head. Chanting from the depths of her memories of better times, of hopeful times. The girl had her family. The girl had her sword. The girl had her name. And a dancer had taught her another kind of mantra that filled her very being. As the memories of Arya Stark’s life began crashing back into her mind, the girl stood taller despite her weakened knees. She walked faster despite her ripping muscles.

ā€œThe girl is no oneā€ echoed an ancient voice.

But the fire within her was already released.

ā€œWhat do we say to the God of death?ā€

Arya Stark fiercely muttered under her ragged breath: ā€œNot today.ā€
