28 Cats That Forgot How to Cat
Ruminations on Tea and Coffee

Look at the cat mug! LOOK AT IT. So kawaii.
What’s actually in the mug is Japanese instant milk tea, which I love, and tea is on my list of Things I Like, right next to coffee + chocolate/caramel/vanilla. I used to drink coffee ALL THE TIME because the café at my school sold chilled, bottled coffee not unlike the Starbucks ones (only these had eco-friendly wrappers, so how could I not?). However, I realized that my addiction was both expensive and partially drug-related, so I reverted to mildly-caffeinated tea.
Tea is also really good for you, because science says so:
1. It keeps you hydrated. If you like your tea how I like mine (well-steeped but not too much) then maybe water would be better for immediate hydration. But fluid is fluid and it’s better than energy drinks.
2. Antioxidants for days! Antioxidants are healthy plant chemicals, which are good for you, and tea has a buttload of that stuff. But seriously, the herbs found in teas are there for a purpose.
3. It’s a de-stressor. As a college student, it’s so hard to make time for de-stressors. But research paper + two cups of green tea = relaxation and creativity. Case closed.
I’m not saying coffee doesn’t do these things too, because it sorta does depending on your drink. Caffeine is a diuretic though, and those chilled, bottled lovely bits of unicorn milk make you lose water like crazy. Even though they’re so flippin’ good. And expensive.
But tea is now the best thing ever, and if you, Reader, have any tea suggestions, please suggest them at once because I love variety, even in my drinks.
