This Makes Me Want To Cry And Laugh At The Same Time
This makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time
Fan: So I know you had financial circumstances when you were younger that were difficult, and I wondered what your first kind of frivolous spending thing was? When you had an actor’s salary, what was the first big spend that was unnecessary that you made?
Misha: That is a great question. [pauses in consideration]
Someone in audience: Your T-shirt!
Misha: I actually got this T-shirt, smartypants, making a bet. I was over at somebody’s house and he had this grass growing in a potted plant, and I was like “oh, that’s really cool grass.” And he said, “that’s actually bamboo.” And I was like, “no it’s not.” And he said, “yeah, it is, it’s a kind of bamboo.” And I said, “no, it’s not, it’s a grass.” And he said, “you wanna bet?” And I was right. I won this shirt.
Um. To hear me talk, it sounds like I have a gambling problem. [shrugs] What happens in Vegas… Are you guys gonna be gambling, a lot of you, while you’re here? [cheers from audience] Good choice, strong choice, yeah. You’re gonna make a lot of money. Good on you. Great investment. [to original fan] Um… I don’t know what you’d asked me.
Fan: What your first frivolous spend was. Or do you still feel like you’re frugal when it comes to spending, ‘cause you have that mindset from struggling?
Misha: Well, I am kind of weirdly frugal, I guess. I don’t know, am I frugal? Yes, sometimes I’m frugal, and sometimes I’m really stupidly spendy. My… We grew up, you know, getting government assistance, and sometimes we were homeless when I was a kid, and… definitely felt the pain of not having money, at times. I mean, there was actually a balance where it was also great because it taught me that I didn’t need a lot of material stuff to be okay, but it was also, you know… it kind of sucks standing in line at a soup kitchen, and getting really bad soup. So I… I got…
Oh, I remember. I remember the very first thing. So my friend Darius directed this movie, which was called Loot. It’s a documentary about World War II veterans and it was kind of great, and I helped him produce it. And we were at the LA Film Festival, and he won Best Documentary, with the biggest cash prize for a documentary that you can get – $50,000. And he and I were in similar financial situations, at that point, which was, zero financial situation. And we’d grown up together, so we both sort of shared the same, you know, feelings about money. And we went to a health food store, and bought all organic groceries. Including, I remember, a bottle of olive oil that was like $25. And I remember thinking, this is so fucking crazy. But we did it anyway.
And then later, when I got on Supernatural and I had real money, I bought a pair of patent red Prada shoes. ‘Cause I was like, you know what, fuck it, I get it, I’m fucking loaded now, I’m gonna go buy a pair of patent leather Prada shoes. And I got home, and I was like, …what the hell am I gonna do with those? I actually kept them for a while, but I never wore them. And they’re gone, now, mercifully. They were like a creepy reminder of a really bad decision.

This is true power
I found a pun that works in both English and Spanish
Where do cats go when they die? Purrgatory.
¿De dónde van los gatos cuando mueren? Purgatorio.
It's the demons. They want you to breed with the mouth of a goat.

WHAT IS THIS
Okay so one of my friends, not gonna say which one, said the other day that if they were gonna take away the Confederate flag they should also get rid of the gay flag. I didn't say anything but in my head I was thinking ' They're taking away the Confederate flag because a lot of people see it as supporting slavery. You and some others just want the gay flag gone because you dont like gay people. There is a real reason that makes sense for getting rid of the Confederate flag, you are just someone who doesn't like gays. Stop shoving your beliefs down other people's throats.' I just felt like mentioning that because it made me really angry. That's all.
Makeshift DIY Humidifier
I know many of us on tumblr are in college. And I know that at many colleges, the heat source in the dorms is a radiator. And radiators spew dry air. Dry air really bothers me - it makes my throat scratchy and causes post-nasal drip. I am sure I am not the only one with this problem. I complained about it to my mom and she told me something that I wish I knew YEARS ago, so I have decided to share it with you.
To make your own makeshift humidifier:
Fill a metal bowl with water.
Put it on top of your radiator.
Like this:

(Pardon my laundry basket)
Close your windows
The heat from the radiator will create steam from the bowl and the steam will stay in your room. Humidifier!
(Make sure it is a metal bowl as a plastic one will melt.)
It’s so simple! I don’t know how I didn’t think of this before. Help your friends! Spread the word!
