Enforce Welfare Rules for Horses Paris Olympics 2024

So some of you may know or have guessed that I love horses. I love riding. I love chilling with horses. I love watching horses compete. Which is one of the reasons that I am very very unhappy with the state of horse wellfare in modern competition. The 2020 Olympics really brought to light some of the shocking sides of the competitive horse world and thrust them into the public eye. And as someone who engages with horse sport beyond the Olympics, I can promise you that that these events were not isolated incidents, but just examples of widespread problems. If the FEI and other bodies governing horse sports will not take meaningful action to protect the physical and mental wellfare of their equine athletes, then horse sports will and should lose their social license to operate. It's not fare for these sports to continue at the expense of the horse. The first step in protecting horse sports is protecting horses. The above campaign is headed by some of the most important and vocal individual voices for horse wellfare online, such as Shelby Dennis (@sdequus), people who are making meaningful change in the way people view and treat their animals. It seeks to send a strong message to the FEI and IOC (olympic committee) that people have noticed their laxity in the standards for the wellfare of their equine athletes, and that we are not taking this lightly, and to ensure that the Paris 2024 Olympics will be fair and kind to horses as well as people. With enough vocal condemnation, maybe the FEI will finally be forced to actually change its practices instead of ignoring issues or applying bandaid solutions and sweeping problems under the rug. Vex’ahlia is obviously winning. Keyleth is better at this game than she gives herself credit for and isn’t doing half bad. Grog is being a little too aggressive with the turns and keeps crashing into things; and yet somehow, he’s still a place ahead of Scanlan. The game is clearly rigged!
