Tell me again why I need to like Steve and Bucky????

So you want to know why you should ship Steve and Bucky. You want to know you should ship Steve and Bucky.

You want to know why you should ship Steve and Bucky.

There’s just so much to know about these two idiot nerds, I don’t even know where to begin. Do I talk about their ‘to the end of the line’ marriage proposal? Do I give you a full breakdown of how Disobey-Super-Important-Government-People-Stupid Steve gets when Bucky’s in danger? Or do I talk about a love story that spans longer than most people’s life times?

I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN!

And since I don’t know, I figured I’d reach out to a few of my fellow stucky compatriots to help convince you answer this very important question.

wow, I’m not sure what to write! I mean, I ship them like crazy but it’s probably for really stupid same-as-everyone-else reasons like the star-crossed tragedy of their lives and always putting each other before themselves.

I love how strong their chemistry is and how great they look together, their dynamic, everything

I love that they sass the shit out of each other and that Steve’s the intense asshole and Bucky’s the long suffering spouse

(look at you, Buck, being all kinds of brazen announcing to the world what Steve is to you)

The reason I ship Stucky is that, despite the science fiction elements/setting, it is the most realistically developed relationship I’ve seen in films/fandom. It isn’t a ‘true loves kiss; story. It isn’t a ‘and they lived happily ever after’ story. They meet and are drawn to each other because of mutual ideals. They work together well because they are as alike as they are different, so they understand one another but also compliment one another. Their relationship is built from a foundation of friendship. They have years of mutual respect, affection, support, devotion and love behind them. They don’t always agree but they can disagree without it being a huge deal because of how well they know and respect each other. This is why they can argue over Steve breaking the law and feeling the need to serve the war in a very specific way and then tease each other and go their separate ways with a hug and words of reassurance. This is why they can be separated for months or years and then talk to each other and work together as if they were apart for only a few hours. These are two people who took the time to know every last little detail about each other and then decided this was a person worth standing with, worth caring for. You know Bucky had to get all kinds of encouragement to leave Steve behind when they were kids, just as Steve was encouraged to let Bucky go after he was brainwashed. Neither listened. Neither ever showed any shame in caring for the other. Back to their argument at the start of Cap1, Bucky isn’t arguing that Steve is too weak to do any good, he’s arguing that Steve has other attributes and can serve the war just as importantly by looking at other jobs. There’s no pity there. Just respect and love and concern. This is what I want to see a romance based off. Not two characters who meet and are supposedly the love of each others lives after knowing each other for a week. These are two characters who earned the right to be called each others soul mate.

why do i ship steve and bucky? because i have two functional eyeballs in my head :) but really, at first i didn’t. when i first saw, catfa i thought of them as best friends, brothers, who would die for one another. and when i saw catws, that didn’t change. it got amplified. steve and bucky are best friends who would die for one another, and their loyalty transcends time. their love story runs so parallel it’s difficult to not see them as soul mates. and when memories, time and relationships are torn from them and take them down individually, they always find each other. regardless of what or who tries to pull them away. also, when you take into account that bucky is steves one constant throughout his saga, the one person who he risks it all for, it’s hard to not realize that’s his core love interest. bucky is always steves cause and reason. and it’s the same way vice versa.

They are just my kind of nerds tbh xD I’ve got it bad for “I’m in love with my best friend” tropes, tragic love stories, AND “opposing sides” style rivals. And in a weird way stucky is all three. Hits me right in the sweet spot. Plus the universe they inhabit is just a lot of fun!

- fIRST OFF, stucky. like, where do I even begin. steve + bucky = stuck. stucky. it even sounds good. but then, who isn’t stuck on ships?- give-me-a-hand jokes. THE TOY STORY REFERENCES KIND OF JOKES.- bucky barnes. there’s bucky in it so it automatically becomes A++- you’ve heard of daddy jokes? prepare for /grandpa/ jokes.- artists. I know, every fandom has talented people, but BOI let me tell you how talented are the stucky artists. (never run out of fanarts, manips, fics & meta.)- speaking of meta. did you mean FEELS. (like, I have a tag, not safe for feelings, and it’s full of stucky. mostly. 90%.) (but there’s also fluff. worry not.)

Their relationship is so profound to me I can’t even begin to compare them to any other ship I’ve been passionate about over the years.

If I were ever approached with the question: why should I ship this pairing? I would say “watch the films.” Their actions speak louder than my words could ever begin to describe. Then I would say “check out this fic or this fanart,” (and I would try really hard not to spam them with a list of eight hundred billionty of my absolute favs right off the get-go) because honest to God this fandom is so incredibly passionate and insanely talented. I weep with joy every single day because there is always something new, something AMAZING, something to flail and scream about with fandom friends (and r/l friends too!)

These two idiots just.. love each other so much.

Hmmmmm damn that is a hard question!!! 😩😩😩😩 I ship them because??? They’re??? So??? Much??? But tbh I didn’t *ship* them ship them until I read “The Man on the Bridge” by Boop 😂😂 so like you should totally make the person read that fic 😂. Ummm…there’s too many Serious Reasons like how they fight their way to each other again and again (exhibit A: Azzano, exhibit B The Train™, exhibit C the Helicarrier when Bucky fights thru his programming, exhibit D P much all of civil war 😂), how they choose each other without hesitation, the look on Steve’s face when anything happens with Bucky, and Bucky protecting Steve after everything??? Like cmon his arm is blown off and he’s on the ground and still he’s trying to help Steve??? 🙄🙄🙄 Buck pls. Or Steve just dropping the shield and leaving with Bucky. The list is too long!! 😩

Because they’re both such fundamentally good people (not flawless, but good at heart) who sacrifice so much for others, and who deserve to love and be loved; because they know each other better than anyone else ever has or ever will; because they’ve literally and metaphorically given up their lives for each other over and over; and because they look at each other and smile despite everything. 😃

Also they are both stubborn assholes who KEEP sacrificing themselves for each other, and they deserve each other! :-p

Also also, and more meta, the way Chris and Seb both play that relationship, with the quiet intense devoted gazes 😻

My reason for shipping Stucky? Exploring forms of relationships I haven’t seen before. Mental illness, ptsd, disabilities, displacement, or even  loneliness and how to find yourself - how to deal with a difficult LIFE. I adore how much variety this couple can have, how many different ways there are to cope with what they’ve lived through - if you do canon -, how exciting the possibilities are for every genre! And honestly? Steve Rogers is my bi icon and nobody will take that from me
