Here's Another Favorite Dress I Love From Alexander McQueen's Incredible Fashion Archive. After The Tragic
Here's another favorite dress I love from Alexander McQueen's incredible fashion archive. After the tragic death of McQueen, his loyal right-hand woman, Sarah Burton, was appointed as the new creative director for her mentor's label and debuted her first collection during Spring/Summer 2011 in Paris Fashion Week to rave reviews from fashion journalists, infusing a newfound sense of lightness and femininity to the clothes while still being respectful to the core DNA of McQueen's avant-garde aesthetics. With the collection inspired largely by nature--a consistent reference point for majority of McQueen's past works--this stunning dress is rendered in an eye-catching monarch butterfly print, complete with a 3D neckpiece detail that makes it seem like the model is surrounded by these beautifully docile insects.
And it was only a matter of time before this couture-worthy look would find its way to the silver screen as part of the high fashion ensemble for actress Elizabeth Banks's character in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" where she plays Capitol escort and hardcore sartorialist, Effie Trinket. Effie has taken the runway look to new heights in the film where she wore this ensemble to the reaping of names for the Third Quarter Quell/75th Hunger Games and accessorized the already showstopping dress with a monarch butterfly fascinator sitting atop her curly afro wig in cotton-candy yellow. Additional embellishements to Effie's luscious outfit include 3D monarch butterfly adornments on her left upper arm, matching yellow false eyelashes with color-coordinated face makeup, and black lace gloves on her dainty hands.
