This is probably going to lose us followers, but being a DID System and seeing self-ship hate-and I edited this to change the name because it's awful- always puts us in such a strange position, because it's such a common part of the DID experience...

[Putting this under the cut because it's a small essay]

Because as a DID system- aka alters that may identify differently but are still different parts of the same overall person- with multiple alters in relationships metaphysically, aware that alters in relationships is a common and healing situation, I often wonder whether people would look at us like we're a problem.

I understand the actual situation of why physical procreation with a clone would be Very Bad Actually. Obviously. But if you take out the idea of having kids, it's all just... A romantic (edit: i've had to add romanctic because I think some people were misconstruing this?) form of self-love, in a way that you can love yourself without loving your own self, and often leads to learning how to love your own self via that.

The Kensingtons in our system, for instance, are (Bioshock infinite spoilers) Lutece-esque in the way that they are just two facets of the same person, visually and mentally (albeit mental opposites to balance eachother out). I, Atticus, am in a relationship with our introject of Joy. And it's wonderful and loving and has been incredible for my concept of self-worth. Hell- the Sinclairs are happily married inner world, and they are incredible for eachother. They're a force to be reckoned with and we admire that.

It definitely... makes us feel more distanced from people in fandoms where that discourse is higher. Because it feels like we could get 'cancelled' at any moment for talking about something that is so normal and non-problematic to the DID experience, and for seeing the worth in ships that are very relatable to that experience.

It's hard to expect singlets to relate to system experiences, but the fact I'm expecting to get anon hate from even posting our personal life experiences regarding the situation says a lot.
