Sometimes I think 5dler wouldn’t suit a coffee shop au, but then I remember that the key is in how you write it. Just because it’s coffee shop, doesn’t mean it has to be all fluff, cute first meetings, and smiles.

Just imagine Five and his bitter black coffee tastes. He’s a tired college student, just needs something strong to get him through the day. But this barista is a bit of a troublemaker. She sees his dark attitude, all broody, and god if she doesn’t love to torment (flirt with) the standoffish ones. And so Five walks out of the café with a caramel latte unknowingly in his hand.

He’s frustrated, how could she mix up his order. So he goes back later to clear it all up, only she just winks, a “did you like it?” on her tongue. And now he’s mad. The audacity of this woman. He walks out all in a huff.

But the next morning he faces the same predicament. Tired, grumpy, in need of coffee. And so, despite his better judgement, he goes back. Scowl in place as she serves him. Her light smirk pisses him off, but he has to admit the black coffee that she actually gives him this time is superb. Even if it’s not an apology for the day before. She’s smug, knows even though she infuriated him the first time, this time she’s impressed him. And he hates it. How cocky she is. How right she is.

Five finds himself going back, day after day. He still scowls, but she just smiles at him knowingly. And every now and then he ends up with something other than what he ordered. But it’s still undeniably good, even if it’s not to his personal tastes. He hates it, or at least he tells himself that. He certainly doesn’t miss her and her coffees on her days off. And he’d never miss that stupid face. Okay, maybe just a little. But he’ll never tell her that.

It was odd, but Five felt somewhat safe in his position. Maybe it was his belief in her competency, or the respect that he held for her despite everything? Though it was likely just a lack in cognitive reasoning due to being tired.

He was vulnerable right now, and she was using it to her advantage. That was it, he sleepily decided. It definitely wasn't that her ministrations were soothing, or that he found her presence comforting and her body warm. Absolutely not.

Age down the Handler. Make the Commission punish her for letting 5 escape, so they put her in a 13 year old body and throw her in the same timestream as 5 and the rest of his young family to hunt him down. Give me sassy, bossy, pink ribbon in hair Handler throwin a full blown tantrum, because she is DONE with all the trouble 5 in his adorable little shorts has caused. Give me Constant banter and insults between the two, and Klaus is just like, “Oh, this is the woman you were with for 40 years.”
