the weather in gaza is changing and mohammed iwais (verified) urgently needs to buy winter clothes for himself and his family. they've been displaced 8 times now and were sleeping on the streets this summer; they have nowhere near the supplies they'll need to survive the cold.

in the age of remote work we should all be visiting friends like they did in jane austen times. is it raining? stay overnight, you'll catch a chill. coming for a visit? why not stay for a couple months, until the roads...get better?

has anyone else noticed a quiet but unbearable sadness and nostalgia this week
going to sleep & by sleep. heh. well. let's just say. phone in bed
It is so, so fucking vital to your health and safety to be in cahoots with at least one person at all times.
Save a Gazan journalist's life.
I won't keep you long. Here are the facts:
Siraj Abudayeh @siraj2024 is a Gazan journalist and a father of three.
He and his family have been displaced 7 times.
They have survived multiple recent massacres in Khan Yunis.
They live in a tent that feels like a "convection oven".
He can hear tank fire across the street.
His parents and siblings escaped Deir al-Balah and are now homeless; he has to care for them too.
He needs to raise $5,000 CAD / $3653 USD by the end of the day.
He's probably gotten a hundred thousand notes on his posts at this point.
This has been meaningless. His campaign moves at a glacial pace.
The Palestinian genocide is the fault of the US, UK, Israel, and the imperial core in general.
When we in the imperial core do not donate to people like him, we perpetuate the genocide.

Update: HelpGazaChildren on Pause
I wanted to wait and see if there would be any updates about this before I announce it but for the past couple of weeks, Hussam has not been able to withdraw from the HelpGazaChildren gofundme. This is because they put his funds on hold in the gofundme as he sends in documentation they request from him.
Because he’s constantly being displaced (currently he is experiencing his 4th displacement!) and the internet is spotty, the process has been going slowly. Here is the original email HelpGazaChildren was sent:

He hasn’t been able to withdraw any amount since getting this email. Your donations are being put on hold in the gofundme until this is fully sorted out. This means you can still try to donate and if they let Hussam withdraw sometime soon, they can use the money. The most recent email they sent is asking for further documentation.
Hopefully they’ll respond to his emails soon. He submitted the recent documentation they asked of him and he's just waiting to hear back.
I wanted to make sure everyone was aware about the current situation and if there are any updates, I’ll provide them.
Thank you so much for all you help these past few months. You put smiles on children’s faces, made sure families were able to eat, and so, so much more. I hope we can continue helping Hussam soon.
(Sorry, no ID as I'm busy these days)
Lina and her very young children need help to evacuate Gaza!

[Image description: A screenshot of a tumblr ask by user @lina-gaza containing the following text. Hello friends! I am Lina from Gaza. I have two children, one of them was born in the genocide. Please, I need a donation of 20 or 25 euros. I know that my request for help is unsual for me, but I really need you. The donation link is in my bio. Every small donation makes a difference. Help my children and my family. We lost everything and we need this money urgently. End description]
Lina is 25-year old mother of two children, including a 3 month old baby, who is raising funds to evacuate Gaza into Egypt via Rafah, which is rumored to be reopened. Her campaign, which has been vetted by association, has currently raised €38,235 out of the €45,000 goal. It's very important that we raise this money, especially because there's a very young child in her family, and raising a small infant like that in the middle of a genocide with no hospital support can be extremely dangerous. Please donate if possible and boost this post!

when 23 year olds say “im getting old” cause they get excited by mundane things…for the love of. we used to get excited by BOXES as toddlers. maybe we’re just reverting to our childlike joy did u ever think about THAT.

cannot stop thinking about my friends from uni who fell in love and regularly host brunches and fun dinner parties at their cozy apartment together 😭 literally the dream....
All I need is for someone to gently cup my face and tell me I'm not as doomed as I feel.
where do the thoughts go? they come to me in moments of quiet, tip-toeing through so as to not disturb me. "how fine," i think. "i should like to show you off." skittish as a mouse, the thought departs as silently as it arrived, leaving me stunned and wondering: where do the thoughts go?
Social anxiety isn’t “omg I hate people lol I wish I was sleeping and watching netflix!”. It’s “I want desperately to be able to hang out with people but I hate the feeling of sheer panic and fear I get around them so I don’t/ can’t and it eats away at me every day so I end up just staying home and say I’m sleeping or watching something”

Think about this quote like all the time and how it really undermines so much shit in capitalism
extremely fucked up that one of the symptoms of adhd is forgetfulness and difficulty sticking to habits and schedules and one of the best ways to alleviate those symptoms is by remembering to take a pill every morning at the same time

Mahmoud Darwish, Memory for Forgetfulness: August, Beirut, 1982 (trans. Ibrahim Muhawi) [ID'd]
on context: "[set during] the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the shelling of Beirut [...] Memory for Forgetfulness is an extended reflection on the invasion and its political and historical dimensions. It is also a journey into personal and collective memory. What is the meaning of exile? What is the role of the writer in time of war? What is the relationship of writing (memory) to history (forgetfulness)?" (source)
“Dogs don’t know what they look like. Dogs don’t even know what size they are. No doubt it’s our fault, for breeding them into such weird shapes and sizes. My brother’s dachshund, standing tall at eight inches, would attack a Great Dane in the full conviction that she could tear it apart. When a little dog is assaulting its ankles the big dog often stands there looking confused — “Should I eat it? Will it eat me? I am bigger than it, aren’t I?” But then the Great Dane will come and try to sit in your lap and mash you flat, under the impression that it is a Peke-a-poo… Cats know exactly where they begin and end. When they walk slowly out the door that you are holding open for them, and pause, leaving their tail just an inch or two inside the door, they know it. They know you have to keep holding the door open. That is why their tail is there. It is a cat’s way of maintaining a relationship. Housecats know that they are small, and that it matters. When a cat meets a threatening dog and can’t make either a horizontal or a vertical escape, it’ll suddenly triple its size, inflating itself into a sort of weird fur blowfish, and it may work, because the dog gets confused again — “I thought that was a cat. Aren’t I bigger than cats? Will it eat me?” … A lot of us humans are like dogs: we really don’t know what size we are, how we’re shaped, what we look like. The most extreme example of this ignorance must be the people who design the seats on airplanes. At the other extreme, the people who have the most accurate, vivid sense of their own appearance may be dancers. What dancers look like is, after all, what they do.”
