“The Venus bey, Quetzalcoatl… could this really be the one?”
-Kyoya Tategami, Beyblade Metal Fury, episode 129- “Lion in the Wilderness”
——————–
SO. Did someone ask for another screencap redraw of Kyoya? No? Okay.
Well, I had like a 7 hour drive to kill yesterday, and this seemed like a quick & easy drawing to whip out. (So yes this drawing was done in a moving car please forgive the messy lines)
I also really wanted to do a screencap redraw from season 3 after my last one, which was season 1. Mostly because Kyoya grows and changes so much from season to season, it’s insane! He matures, works out his issues, he makes friends (albeit somewhat reluctantly), and he just grows a lot at a person. And even so, he never strays from who he is as a person. No matter how he grew over the seasons, he was always that wild king of beasts that I came to adore.
As for when is season 3 this screencap takes place, this is episode 129, “Lion in the Wilderness”. This is the episode after Kyoya kinda… splits off from the primary group. He’s become fed up with people telling him what to do, so he makes up his mind to make a fresh start on his own. (he didn’t even let benkei come with him and I find that heartbreaking). In this particular episode, Kyoya stumbles upon some people from a village that was being terrorized by a “monster” that used a beyblade. Kyoya, never having met a blader he didn’t want to outdo, told the villagers that he’d hunt down the monster. While on the hunt. Kyoya runs into Yuu, who is also looking for this monster. Much to Kyoya’s dismay, the pair teams up to find this monster. The monster turns out to be a young boy named Titi, the final missing legendary blader.
Okayokayokay, as for this drawing, I guess I’m pretty satisfied with it. Drawing Kyoya is always fun, and the dramatic & bright lighting from this sunset provides a solid contrast to the last screencap redraw I did! (Also I love drawing sunsets)
If I had to pick a favorite part of this drawing I’d probably say the background. I don’t add backgrounds to my art very often and it’s even more rare for me to put actual effort into them. So, let’s just say I’m pretty happy with this scene.
Enjoy!

Japanese artist Monokubo imagines a world where larger-than-life animals roam the land and live among us. Through her fantastical digital paintings, the gentle giants are sources of comfort when their human companions are having a bad day or are traipsing through places that feel strange or unwelcoming. They offer them a fluffy paw of encouragement or a nose to boop, and they’re always ready to snuggle.
Monokubo was inspired to produce these illustrations after seeing iconic Studio Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro which both feature large creatures in their cast. Many of the animals that Monokubo depicts are house cats. “In most cases, I choose the animals that have left an impression in my daily life,” she tells My Modern Met. “I have a cat and he is very cute.”
While felines are her favorite, Monokubo has branched out and illustrated creatures of the forest including raccoons and wolves. But she doesn’t stop there. Cuddly domesticated bunnies and Shiba Inu dogs act as faithful companions to the illustrations’ young people.
Monokubo has a book featuring her larger-than-life animals called Megalophilia that is now available on Amazon.

The artist is on Tumblr! Go give her some love!

“Well then, just do what you have to.” - Kyoya Tategami, Beyblade Metal Fusion, episode 1- “Pegasus has Landed” ——————— I was watching some beyblade the other day (like ya do), and I stumbled upon a wonderful and terrifying screencap of Kyoya from episode 1. Basically the Face Hunters just told him about Gingka and he’s telling them to get rid of him. Season 1 is by far the strongest in terms of Kyoya’s growth, and I might redraw a screencap of him from later episodes just to show how much he matures. Now, I could ramble for a very long time about this guy’s character development and growth, but I’ll spare you. This drawing actually didn’t take me very long… strange considering how slow I’ve been recently. But I don’t know, there’s something about drawing this guy that just makes me happy. Even when he looks downright insane. Enjoy! ——————— Kyoya Tategami ©- Takafumi Adachi Original art ©- Tatsunoko animation studio
