The city that once had bright lights and colorful sounds… now sirens fill the air and the city is as dark as ever.

When she was young, she remembered how the city used to be. Everyone seemed happy, and everyone had smiles on their faces.

The city now reminds her of a place that has no light..

She was out walking around, doing nothing but looking at different buildings; going down memory lane. She looked at her watch and saw that it was almost nine and she should get home. She knew what would happen if she stayed out much longer.

She turned the corner, onto the street of where she lived. She sighed out loud… if only she felt safe..

Because everyone knew the city was no longer.

Once she reached her house she pulled out her house keys. She knew her roommate was still working until ten, so she would be alone for awhile.

Which didn’t help either. She walked onto her property and towards the door. She unlocks the door, and walks inside.

Only her calmness of being home was replaced with anxiety and fear. She saw that her entire front living room, and dining room were complete destroyed. Everyone was thrown on the floor, and broken glass was everywhere.

Screw fear, she was entirely scared and wanted to cry.

She pulled out her phone, and dialed 911. Her hands were shaking the entire time she was on the phone with the operator.

“Police will be there in 10 minutes.” The voice said. She quietly thanked them and hung up.

She might as well look around to see if anything was stolen.

She walked around the room, looking if anything was out of place.

She walked into the the hallway, and into her room.

And she couldn’t believe what she saw next.

A man was tied to a chair in the middle of her room. And he didn’t look alive.

Charybdis was created by the water sculptor William Pye in 2000 for the luxury Seaham Hotel and Spa, near Sunderland in Northern England. Charybdis is the name of a siren mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey, who was hit by a thunderbolt from Zeus that transformed her into a whirlpool as harsh punishment for stealing an oxen from Hercules. Pye later built similar sculptures influenced by the story in Oman and Campinas, Brazil.
