trying to process the grief for someone who i never knew personally but someone who’s proficient comedic talent impacted my life profoundly. the news of matthew perry’s passing has put a knot in my chest. a feeling i can’t even comprehend. matthew’s performance as chandler bing was my favourite of all time without a doubt. i have seen every episode of friends at least a dozen times, watched it religiously as a child, and even still to this day. much of my personality came from chandler bing. he is the blueprint for sarcastic comedy. this hurts more than i could have ever anticipated. words are not enough to convey my feelings.  matthew was not only part of my childhood and my favourite sitcom character; he was a person. a human being who struggled his entire life. he deserved a long, clean life of happiness and love. i’ll always remember that, even while matthew battled addiction while working on friends, everyone who worked on the show said he always showed up to work on time and put on his best performance as chandler because he loved making people laugh, even when he was struggling in his life. rest in peace, matthew. you will live on eternally through your work and the joy you brought to so many of us. thank you. you are so loved.

I grew up with my ma watching friends, as it was her favorite show since her 20s, and soon her love for the show and the characters was passed on to me. I believe that today is more than a tragic loss as it feels unfair that we have to let go of a friend we have loved so much so soon... and it's almost ironic how someone who has made so many people so happy and touched so many lives had a rollercoaster life himself and yet always stood up to help anyone you knew was going through the same struggles in the best way you could. It pains me that you made it all seem so easy when it wasnt actually the case most of the time. I never knew you personally but your loss hits me as if I've lost a dear friend unexpectedly today... and I love you and I mourn you deeply. Its like a nightmare come true for so many of us. I can attest to it that your character Chandler Bing, has resonated with so so many of us and been the first to teach us sarcasm and ironic humor. No matter how much I write here it won't be enough to comprehend how I feel today!? because youve been such a great part of my life and the people i love, the things i love, the person i am and how ive used your references all the time ? But I just want you to know you have made me so so happy on days I was at my worst and there wasnt a time when i was bored even after repeatedly watching ur episodes.. I want this message to go out into the universe that I love you, I miss you and I hope your soul has found peace in the beyond.

maybe you just need to sit in your room and journal under the warm light of your lamp and listen to the rain on the roof and believe you are loveable
