10 Favourite Characters
The lovely consultingpiskies tagged me and asked for my top 10 favourite characters. I’ve tried to limit myself to one from each fandom, just to make it extra fiendish. Deep breath, here we go (in alphabetical order)...
Alexander Dane, Galaxy Quest (”If I have to say that stupid line one more time...”)
Count Duckula, Duckula (Cassssstle Duckula, home for many centuries to a dreadful dynasty of vicious - vampire - ducks: the COUNTS OF DUCKULAAAAAA. *cue synth drums*)
Captain Arthur Hastings, Poirot (”I say!”)
Sherlock Holmes Doctor Watson, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes No, I can’t possibly choose, let’s just go for a nice cup of tea and a sticky bun with Mrs Hudson. She’s got all the gossip on them both anyway.
Jeeves, every single book in the Jeeves and Wooster series (‘Yes, sir,' said Jeeves in a low, cold voice, as if he had been bitten in the leg by a personal friend.)
Fran Katzenjammer, Black Books (”I am a giant ear, waiting for your songs of niceness.”)
Megara, Disney’s Hercules (”He comes on with his big innocent farm-boy routine, but I could see through that in a Peloponnesian minute.”)
Severus Snape Remus Lupin Minerva McGonagall, Harry Potter and the Thingies of Wotsit (I was always far more interested in the adults of that series than the kids, to be honest)
Queenie, Blackadder II (”Sometimes I think about having you executed, just to see the look on your face!”)
Commander Sir Samuel Vimes, Duke of Ankh Lord Vetinari Lady Sybil Ramkin-Vimes, Discworld (She’s a dragon-keeping BAMF and I won’t hear otherwise)
There are lots of you who I’d like to get to know better but am too shy to ask, SO, if you’d like to do this, consider yourself tagged!

(I feel compelled to remind everyone that this is a series of doodles in which the Hound of the Baskervilles resides at Baker Street (and still glows in the dark, for some reason), in which Watson is basically just a walking moustache with a penchant for sweeties and in which Holmes once led a conga line and has a teddy bear called Boswell; so if anyone was reading this hoping for a sense of reality, regard for the sanctity of the Canon or indeed any sort of artistic merit whatsoever then they will find themselves sorely disappointed ;) )
But that is a fantastic essay by petermorwood! Really fascinating, thank you so much for sharing. I don’t think the old ‘but it’s alright, I was using a parlour pistol’ excuse would wash with Mrs Hudson, though…

“Ta-da!”
In which Mr. Holmes does a spot of decorating.
(Yes, there really are 20 more of these, and here’s the proof.)

consultingpiskies said: I would guess that either tumblr is forcing the ratio or the file size is too big for the dash view. Is the file size larger than what you upload and/or is the aspect ratio different? Though it might also be that tumblr’s being weird.
Thanks! I don't *think* it's an aspect ratio thing (after a quick google to check that i definitely understood what that meant!), but it could feasibly be a jumboriffic file size ... (I probably should have added that this wasn't really an issue until I got a new scanner that I haven't really got to grips with yet, so... could be entirely down to user error/ineptitude)
faerymorstan said: i sadly cannot answer your technical question but “embiggenates” just made my day. you are a national treasure. <3
It is a perfectly cromulent word :)
(I don’t think I’ve ever been described as a national treasure before... *blush*)
Edited to add - I am officially putting this down to ‘Tumblr being weird’. Tried different file formats, different sizes ... nothing. *grumblegrumblegrumble*
Right, technical question … why is it that one might have a perfectly good, non-pixellated scan of, for argument’s sake, tomorrow’s episode of the Adventures of Mrs Hudson, which, when viewed from the Tumblr dashboard, is all pixellated?
It’s then not pixellated if one embiggenates it or views it from the blog itself.
Is it just because it’s greyscale line art or …?
Asking for a friend.

“Mrs Hudson, Professor Moriarty is a master criminal!”
“Oh, well, you two will have lots to talk about, then...”
That first, fateful meeting between Holmes and Moriarty, with a few details that Watson left out of the official version.

So I topped off my wild Friday night of drinking too much wine and blogging excitedly about Battenberg cake by booking myself on to a one-day introduction to beekeeping course. I AM SO EXCITED.
