I figured I'd put this as a post in case anyone wants to see it slightly bigger.

A few facts about this, for anyone interested

1. This took me almost 4 hours to do and I'm still not sold on it. I'm pretty new to digital art and don't really draw much

2. Zach is holding on to Bella's arm casually

3. Freddie is trying to get out of the headlock

4. Zach is the only white one in the group (I'm doing facts about the actual characters now cos why not)

5. Bella is half Hispanic and half Austrian

6. Freddie is half Thai, half German

7. Bella's tool belt is a permanent part of her ensemble (except of course my one other drawing of her) and is the only thing she allows herself to do that is outside what is socially expected of her in public

my story features a chaotic group of teenagers who find a family within each other. if you like found family, lgbtq+ characters (all of the mains are part of the community!), diversity, a touch of romance (rivals to lovers! cute, fluffy relationships!), and a healthy mix of fluff and angst, then keep reading for a full(er) description!

years in the future, after a nuclear fallout has wiped out most of the population, those who survived were forced to adapt. based on their environments, they developed powers (either fire, water, ice, darkness, or storm) and formed isolated groups. eventually, as society began to rebuilt a bit, the groups created a shaky alliance with each other, but tension still runs high between people with differing powers. to create unity, the head of the government creates a boarding school, where the most powerful teenagers of each group are sent to compete for a place on the government's security team. one student from each powered group will be chosen, and they have to learn how to fight with their fists, powers, and minds.

violetta isn’t exactly what you would call powerful. her parents bought her way into the boarding school, so she doesn't truly belong there. but what she lacks in power, she makes up for in determination. violetta is put into a dorm room with four other teenagers, and, though she's never met people with different powers, they all become close friends. these are the people she will spend the most time with in the boarding school, and the ones she will learn to fight alongside.

but it’s not all roses. not everyone wants the boarding school to succeed. and not all things are as they seem. and violetta is quickly distracted by a rebellious girl who puts up walls and opposes her at every turn.

Zach: outdoorsy! He actually gets uncomfortable being indoors for too long

Freddie: indoorsy. To quote him on a regular basis, ew nature

Bella: indoorsy. She prefers a controlled environment but can appreciate a good nature walk or park every once in a while.

Character Question 3

Do they ever put on airs?

Bella: ABSOLUTELY!! Her entire social life is faked to some degree. She is not socially competent at all, so all her charisma is learned and calculated. This unfortunately has led to some awkward mishaps when someone doesn't react according to plan, which results in a breakdown of some sort. Either she will go completely silent in the situation and/or retreat as soon as she can and/or have a minor meltdown in her room, cursing herself for not putting more days into her education before throwing herself into more research with a new fire.

Freddie: no way, no how, nuh-uh. He is not changing himself so someone of lower intelligence can deal with him more comfortably. He will act however he pleases thank you very much. He will attempt to mask his childishness at times which generally fails since he is nine.

Zach: also YES. He is a people pleaser. (forgoing details that are in the upcoming chapter which is slowly coming together. He was scarred a bit which involved his people-pleasing antics to be amped up. Everyone thinks they know him, but if they take a moment to think about it, they know nothing about his personal life. He is charismatic, he is sporty, he's got good sportsmanship, he will support you almost no matter what. But his favorite color, his address, his room decorations, details about his parents, his idols, his preferences in his friend group? A complete mystery.
