Miss Anne’s Place

This is my main blog. I do have a few side blogs for my writing and crafting (and my cat). Originally, this was a sims 2 blog, but now I post about reading and just about anything I’m thinking. I hope you’ll join me! I’m going to try to be more consistent in 2023.

I’m trying to get better about replying to replies, so here are some more for @holleyberry, @penig, and @sweetpea928.  I also want to let @dunne-ias know that I see you going through the Kat household posts from Round 1.  You’re nearly caught up!  You can do it!

Replies below the cut.

Oh my! Who possibly could have written that last letter? I'm super curious now.

I have a few ideas.  ;)  We might get to see one potential writer this round (we’ll see where that goes) but I figured that would be a valid response to the article for a certain kind of girl.  I mean, Malcolm went around town looking for a date but I don’t think he mentioned the “I am very rich and live in a mansion” thing right off the bat.  There are women out there for whom that is a big turn on and some of them live in Bluewater.

penig replied to your post “Letters to the Editor”

If they print any of those, Malcolm should feel a lot better. Also, prostituting oneself for a story is highly unprofessional.

Yes it is.  It is very unprofessional.  I honestly don’t know how much of what Abby did was genuine and how much was just for the story, but it doesn’t really matter.  Unless her uncle pulls some strings or something, I don’t know how much longer she’ll be working at The Bluewater Herald. (I’m pretty sure her editor is also in big trouble, letting one of his reporters use those methods and then print a story like that.)

I'm so mad at Abby right now...

*Resists using a derogatory word to describe Abby*

I am torn between laughing evilly and completely agreeing with you guys.  I had fun setting up the plot twist, but I also had fun writing the angry letters in that set and letting out a bit of my feelings on the matter.

penig replied to your photoset “9 am. Bluewater Herald offices. “Bluewater Herald. This is Abigail...”

The plot thickens!

Indeed!  ;) Now I just need to figure out what happens after this.  (I have the rest of Round 2 to figure it out, I guess...Anyone have ideas?)

And, If You Step Through The Archway Here, Madame, Youll Find The Library. This Collection Has Been Gathered

“And, if you step through the archway here, madame, you’ll find the library.  This collection has been gathered by the previous generations of the Landgraab family and includes volumes about the family’s history and the history of Bluewater Village.”

“There are books about your family history?” Abby asked in genuine curiosity.

“Yeah.”  Malcolm gestured to a pair of books in the middle of one shelf. “Well, there’s one.”  He pulled a thick book off the shelf and showed it to her.  “My great-grandfather’s autobiography.  He finished it just before he died. It didn’t sell.  I think this is one of...three remaining copies, maybe? There’s one in the family vault at the bank and probably one at the public library.  Unless they got rid of that one.  Grandfather gave it to them as part of a gift for a new wing, but I don’t know if it ever went into circulation.”

“Have you read it?” Abby asked.  “Is it any good?”

Malcolm laughed.  “My grandparents insisted that I read it when I was in high school,” he said, “but honestly, I fell asleep about halfway through.  It’s not badly written, per se, just not all that interesting.”  He held it out to her.  “You can borrow it if you want, though. I don’t mind.”

Abby took the book and flipped through it for a moment.  She paused to read a page, then closed the book and tucked it under her arm.  “On with the tour, Mr. Landgraab,” she said grandly. “I just can’t wait to see what exciting room is next!”

2 am.

Abby slipped out of the bed and dressed as quietly as she could. She picked up the copy of Malcolm I’s autobiography and carried it out of the room.  She brought it back to the library. After taking several pictures of certain pages with her phone, she put the book back on the shelf.

Sorry, Malcolm.  I have to do this.  It’s my duty.  And besides, you did say I was plucky.  What else would a plucky girl reporter do?

She left the manor as silently as possible and did not look back.

Replies on Malcolm and the newspaper article below the cut for @penig, @didilysims, @katrisims, @raptorsims, and @holleyberry. The Landgraab round ends this weekend! Thanks so much for all the feedback! :)

didilysims replied to your post “Emotion Prompt: Hurt”

Poor Malcolm. I wonder what other newspaper readers' reactions are to this story. Any forthcoming Letters to the Editor?

I don’t know. Malcolm doesn’t actually have a lot of friends in Bluewater.  He has a lot of customers, but he’s spent the majority of his time outside of work getting to know Abby.  I don’t know that anyone in town will feel strongly enough about this to write a Letter to the Editor.  (How sad is that?)

penig replied to your photoset “What the hell?”

She wrote that fast! The autobiography must have an index.

I think Abby probably had most of the article written up beforehand.  She had to do some fact checking (hence the autobiography) and she needed the quotes from Malcolm, but the rest could be written and saved until she could fill in the blanks.  She also had Mr. Fleming the lawyer as a source (as revealed in today’s post). This whole thing has been cooking for a while.

katrisims replied to your post “Emotion Prompt: Hurt”

Poor Malcolm. He so didn't deserve this.

holleyberry replied to your post “Emotion Prompt: Hurt”

This was so heartbreaking. Poor Malcolm.

didilysims replied to your post “THE BLUEWATER HERALD”

Hoo boy

katrisims replied to your post “THE BLUEWATER HERALD”

Oh no, that wasn't nice at all. :(

raptorsims replied to your post “THE BLUEWATER HERALD”

Nooooo Abby pleeeease

katrisims replied to your photoset “What the hell?”

Oh dear...

holleyberry replied to your photoset “What the hell?”

Poor Malcolm.

Poor, poor Malcolm indeed. He needs a hug, poor guy! I’d promise that it’ll all work out for him in the end, but I honestly don’t know that. I haven’t planned or played past this round. I do prefer happy endings, though, so I suspect things will get better eventually.

This Is The Study, Not To Be Confused With The Office, Or The Library. This Room Has Traditionally Been

“This is the study, not to be confused with the office, or the library.  This room has traditionally been used by young Landgraab heirs to complete their homework.  Notice the bookshelf with a full set of encyclopedias and the chair, for overbearing parents or guardians to sit in while they keep an eye on their charges to make sure they are getting their work done.”
