I saw your think about the brothers taking out the previous avatars but possibly Greed handing over the reins willingly.

Well there's two possible demons that could have been the previous Envy avatar. Sometimes instead of Leviathan being associated with it, it's the demon Belial/Belias. So that's one option on who it could have been.

There's also the possibly that Leviathan could have been an inherited name as (per some myths) there is two Leviathans - one male, one female. So the previous Envy could have Leviathan (female). Not just because I'm fascinated by angry military ladies.

not exactly in the game itself and demonstrated when mc goes back in the past that Levi had the name of Leviatan even before he assumed the position of avatar of envy, in fact he also had lotan even before the fall.

I think the idea that the name is a title is cool, but if we are going to follow this line of reasoning then we can say that God already foresaw the fall of the brothers.

oh i haven't seen that part yet, as i said dead or forced to "retire," but that's not to say they don't have people to do the work for them, i'm sure these elders (who didn't accept their prince's chosen successors heir) have put their most faithful men to make life difficult for the brothers.

in addition I believe that the demon king did not accept the diavolo's choice very well, it is very likely that he also shares the antiquated ideals of his avatars, but as he could not interfere with the choice of his son (because whether he likes it or not, it's the son who was going to take over) he would simply let his avatars take care of the successors and look the other way.

ok , as far as I know in cannon (obey-me) it was never said about the previous avatars of the brothers, nor how was their adaptation period.

following this theory, we can think that in the time when the demon king was awake there were 7 avatars of the capital sins before the brothers, most likely they (the brothers) had to kill their predecessors / take down their predecessors since in the cannon itself said that the current order of devildom was created by the ideology of Diavolo.

in this case, one can think that devildom at that time was much more bloody and barbaric than we thought, possibly following the ideology of clans and hierarchical separation aimed at the strength of demons.

4-I do crossovers but if I don't know which bundle you're asking for or I'm not comfortable writing it, I'll let you know I won't be able to do it.

Note: I don't interact much with horror media, I'm as brave as mammon in this matter.

5-I also do fanarts and comics (mini) if you want to know about it or are interested and just ask for a commission and/or stop by my ko-fi.
