Welcome To My World

"Six impossible things. Count them Alice. One: There's a potion that can make you shrink. Two: There's a cake that can make you grow. Three: Animals can talk. Four: Cats can disappear. Five: There's a place called Wonderland. Six: I can slay the Jabberwocky." -Alice Kingsleigh

At First, It Was Like Drifting Into A Thick Could Of Smoke, But There Was No Heat, No Smell Of Fire.

At first, it was like drifting into a thick could of smoke, but there was no heat, no smell of fire. Sounds seemed to dampen and the world became still. I watched the skiffs ahead of us slide into the darkness, fading from view, one after another. I realised that I could no longer see the prow of our skiff and then that I could not see my own hand on the railing. I looked back over my shoulder. The living world had disappeared. Darkness fell around us, black, weightless, and absolute. We were in the Fold.

Black Widow

Black Widow

Y/N lifted her head as a trio entered her office.  The room was shrouded in black satin - the chairs, the curtains, everything.  Light was dim, a small cluster of candles flickered on her desk which was situated in the middle of the room.  Behind her desk was her large, high backed, black chair - her throne.  Anyone who ended up in the room with her was either a blundering fool or was daring enough to view her as an equal.

The room reflected the aesthetic that her group was known for - The Black Widows - a web of seductresses, reeling in unsuspecting merchers and taking all they had.  They were notorious, quickly rising among the ranks of the Barrel, even then, with their methods known, people still foolishly fell into their traps.

A young girl, Celine, announced their presence, “Ms. L/N - Mr. Kaz Brekker and two of his crew.”

Man’s Best Friend

kaz brekker x reader - man’s best friend

summary: an unexpected companion turns into a worthy investment

warnings: typical six of crows stuff, slightly ooc kaz? - he’s a bit softer

A/N: I wrote this with a sighthound in mind, specifically a Saluki (google them - they’re stunning), but imagine whatever you’d like. :)

The rumor on the street was that Kaz Brekker didn’t need a reason.  Well, Y/N L/N certainly thought she didn’t need a reason every time she entered Kaz’s little home at two in the morning.  He’d grown accustomed to his door creaking open at unsaintly hours, her feet pitter pattering inside and then slowly pushing the door shut behind her.

He always laid there in his bed, silently listening to the girl, judging whether she just needed silent company or someone to talk to.  The crows were notorious for unhealthy sleeping patterns and she was no exception.  Y/N often sat in a chair, breathing softly, and enjoying Kaz’s quiet company as he slept.  Other times she cried, over a job or some old memory, but he always sat with her.  Letting her rant, get out all of her feelings, while he sat there, quiet but attentive.
