Kuro Yochien "Black Kindergarten" is my new project here. Featuring Sebastian as a day care teacher, with his faithful co-worker Agni taking care of children. O!Ciel is a baby, Soma is 9, Lizzie is 2, Finny is 7. Alois is 2. Joanne and McMillan are 3.
I put the ugly brats as bullies. Meaning Maurice is always bullying the young ones and so he is always in the corner.
Ronald McDonald: "Ran Ran Ru"
Soma: "Iiiiiiipai"

Kuroshitsuji S4 || Soma Asman Kadar Episode 3
not to be black butler on main but
Agni considered Sebastian a friend and Sebastian didn't correct him
he made friends with a DEMON, a literal devil. Sebastian can not surpass Agni's ability to work with people, to bring out their intrinsic value and natural skills. and meta-wise, the entire series took a strong turn after ch. 128...
Agni says that Soma saved him but really all Soma did was give him a second chance and a clean slate. he took away all Agni's baggage. that's not the work of a god that's just the doing of a person. theoretically Agni could have run away and reinvented himself before then but he needed permission. and Soma gave it to him. the most kind touch belongs to a person proving goodness to themself.
i'm so normal about this man. i'm SO NORMAL ABOUT HIM. VERY NORMAL
the meaning of Agni: his name**
growing up as Arshad Satyendra Iyer in a privileged socio-economic class, he lost his faith after seeing his father face no consequences for his many immoral actions. without any particular connections to others, he did whatever put him ahead in life. in his case, it led to injuring and murdering innocent people
after being caught and sentenced to death, he didn't care about his incoming execution because he didn't have anything/one to live for- then Soma cut the rope and declared him a new man, one named Agni
any small amount of research will tell you that Agni is the name of a Hindu god of fire who is a messenger between humans and the divine. not only does "rebirth in fire" parallel the fact that he left his old life completely behind to begin anew, but his divine strength being channeled through a human body particularly mirrors his namesake
and why does he live now? for Soma. his connection to the world, which is why his devotion to the prince is so strong and all-encompassing. he's never had a reason to want to live before Soma started his life over
next in #agnicharacterprogression I'll look into his connection with Soma
**Agni's and Soma's character traits are somewhat based off of Japanese stereotypes about Indian people, which I am trying to not reinforce, but if you spot any mistakes please let me know!
The translation notes are good enough to let us know a little about the origins of Agni's and Soma's names... in the most basic sense.
Agni's description is this:
Which, yeah, okay.
In Vedic mythology, Agni is the god of all fire - he is god of the sun, guardian of the domestic hearth and the spirit of the sacrificial flame, travelling with the sacrifices of man back to the gods, and in turn also brings their messages back to mankind as the mouth of the gods.
Soma's description is a little more... vague.
'Soma is also closely linked to Agni.'
Yeah, I bet.
They don't get into just how close, though, only really touching on Soma as the name of the plant which produces the drink of the gods - much like the ambrosia of Greek mythology - but it is the name of the Vedic god of the moon, who is also associated with plants and vegetation, sharing his name with the plant from which the godly nectar comes, and also the nectar itself.
Soma, also called 'Chandra' (meaning 'shining'), as god of the moon, is warmed and lit by Agni as god of the sun, and produces the nectar of his namesake from that nourishment, in turn feeding him and providing fuel for that fire to burn. In short, they both require each other to exist: Soma could not flourish without Agni, and Agni could not burn without Soma - something that we certainly see reflected in the characters of Black Butler. It is yet another - if a bit more subtle - allusion made by the series to the 'devourer' and the 'devoured', and the nature of the relation between the two.
Digestion and metabolism are considered in the Vedic tradition to be their own internal 'fire', over which Agni also presides, and so to consume the nectar of the gods is also a melding of both Soma and Agni. There really is no escaping the food metaphors.
And then there is the sexual relationship between these two deities.
Do you recall me saying that Agni is the 'mouth of the gods'?
Well, part of that role entails a mimicry of receiving the gods 'gifts' by receiving their seed into his mouth - giving 'drinking the nectar of Soma in exchange for his nourishment' a far more euphemistic meaning.
I know it's already mentioned often enough, but here is a skin color comparison from Soma in the older seasons and of him in the new one
I honestly am shocked seeing this one to one comparison. I didn't think it would be that extreme even though the difference was already immense.
And for those who don't believe me, these were the pictures used for reference
