Do you guys have a grounding box? What kinds of things do you use if so?
We do!! Though, we call it our sensory box. It's got a large mix of things we've collected over the years (and I do mean years.. we've got a baby rattle in here from childhood, lol)
essential oils and candles for scent based grounding
fidget toys: chewy things, pointy things, fidget spinners, fidget cubes, head scratcher, pop-it, putty
a kaleidoscope
stuffies: including three peas in a pod that we can throw at stuff without doing damage if someone's angry
puzzles: Rubik's Cube, one of those ball pushy things, and a couple metal puzzles
self harm alternatives: acupressure bracelets and rings, silicone slap bands, and some random keys haha
and a letter from my mum about how much she loves us (as a system)
and the box is decorated with things that make us happy!!
FlappyHappy is a small Canadian business. It is run by autistics. Many places that sell stim toys are focused on the needs and experiences of parents of young autistic children. Here at FlappyHappy, autistic needs and voices are centred over caregivers. Our stim toys are also great for people living with trauma, ADHD, chronic pain, anxiety, or other needs!
We started out with 9 products and now have over 30. Our mission is to make stim toys affordable and accessible to as many people who need them as we can. One of the ways we do this is by pricing them as reasonably as possible. Any profits we have made thus far have been reinvested into new products for sale. We are doing our best to keep to a model of pricing which is sustainable for our business and for the community we serve.
We also offer free shipping worldwide on orders of $70 CAD or more!
As a small business, it means the absolute world to us if you help us get the word out by sharing this, or even tagging us on or other social media.

My absolute favorite shaker I've made this year!! 🤩
Another throwback to a Shaker I made earlier this year!
shes a ten but she hates chocolate because the texture is a ✨sensory nightmare✨
reblog with “(your preferred pronouns) is a 10 but ____”
mine would be “she’s a 10 but she puts coffee in her cereal instead of milk”

i was in class today (i am a highschler and i work alot as well), and since everybody was talking too loud, i carried a pair of ear things for my sensory to carry with me because i was getting a bit stimulated meanwhile masking my neurodivergency (my adhd, autism, everything even my dyscalculia bc i cant do math), and i got irritated and i finished my juice box and put it in the bin while having them on.
NOW TELL ME, why is the WHOLE class staring at me?? and some girl shouted out, “GUYS SHES AUTISTIC?? LOOK AT HOW SHE WEARS THAT” and the “look what shes wearing. are you autistic?” literally the whole fucking class looked at me and called me retarded and the teachers did NOTHING TO HELP ME.
then the fact that she has neurodivergent issues of her own too and she fucking said that.
now how is this fair. theres ppl in my schl, same year, who had adhd + autism + sensories + stim toys + dyslexic ppl, etc and they’re praised (most of them are white and some are black) but me, as a child (whos mainly mix but shows black to others), im the one targeted???
but if i was the one to scream due to overwhelming feelings and had everyone laugh at me, I’d get into trouble.
never bringing my stim toys + earphones + etc AGAIN. idgaf ill suffer.
nice to know that everybody suddenly knows you’re “autistic” over some “headphones” 😹
now i have to mask my neurodivergency the whole day tomorrow.
Thx for the heads up! Flashing lights kinda hurt my eyes a bit & can often give me a headache, and while it may not be as bad in my case it can be much worse for others, so I'm gonna reblog this
hey so two people in a row on my dash just commented that trying to open the new communities popup on tumblr mobile(?) brings up major flashing lights, so please please PLEASE take caution doing so. i don't like asking people to reblog stuff but please reblog this or make your own post about this to tell people about this because this could seriously hurt someone
