Umbrella reaching up
march 7 , 2023
holding onto this day so closely!
such an adorable and sweet time of the year.
i know they say june boasts because it invents romance, but it must not have taken into account the newness/excitement of march!
mellie and i spent a lot of these days in the same routine, kind of our own way of finding domesticity :3
this day was no different, we browsed thrift shops picking up cute little adornments for the house we were moving into.
oregon is incredible in the spring, too, which should always be noted.
i think everyday journaling is beautiful, i love this account. i love sharing my life and i love getting to live it. and i love my girlfriend
some shots from earlier this summer, when we took a beautiful much needed trip up Mt.Hood ! it was my first time being up near any kind of timberline (far as I can remember at least!!), and it was a bonus that mellies dad had all the insights for the trip!!
i’m looking forward to sticking my nose in a (digital) book to learn more about the history, and how to best navigate a stay !
blog post will be up soon on the site salementricheshop.com :) 🏔️🪵🪲
definitely looking forward to going back- whenever that may be- just to hike the winding trails, or perhaps a cozy stay in the lodge.
psssst! a ride up the ski lift is WORTH IT! even if you aren’t a pro skier ! (i’m in that boat haha),, we didn’t realize we were supposed to be the ones to pull the bar down,, so it was an added rush lol!
Added to my priority reading list - then I’ll see if I can get my work to read it too!
~Welcome~
I’ve spent the past two and a half years working on this very very long essay about the history of the Pacific Northwest, and trying to understand various models for redress and rebalance (which will never truly be obtained, but can still be worked for) since this area was invaded by settlers 200 years ago.
It’s not by any means an *easy conversation* to have with other white people, but it is wholly necessary and long overdue.
So if you’re a fellow colonial settler descendant ready to get real, I hope I made a resource that helps you in that journey. You can get it for free under the “The Zine” page as a pdf, or if you’re glued to your e-reader like I am, it’s a $.99 download on Kindle.
If you want to print your own, you may download and print the zine-ready doc and DIY away.
If you want a physical copy, I request that you donate to your local tribe, Black-led Community Center, or one of the following: Salish School of Spokane/ Real Rent Duwamish/ Naya Action Fund. Then, please send a screenshot or forward a receipt to [email protected], along with your mailing info. If you are a Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color, this is wholly optional, and I am happy to send you a complementary copy if you simply tell me where.
Happy reading + redistributing,
Audrey

I saw someone say something along the lines of "why does nobody get that the PNW is bigger than just California?" And I'm?????? Babe, California is not even part of the PNW? What are you on? Do you mean the West Coast? Like? The PNW is Washington and Oregon lol (and I guess Idaho too🙄😒)
Yes, I know that technically some parts of cali technically are in the pnw but it's so small you can't even count it tbh and most people don't lol
i love being from the pacific northwest because anytime I see pictures of evergreen forests and water I have to stop a second and be like do I know that beach? have I hiked that hike? and sometimes the answer is yes and that’s cool and a lot of times the answer is no but even though it’s a different lake or tree or mountain i get to know it’s like friends with my favorite water and trees and mountain so it’s friendly and familiar
