My redesign of vesperia. Her original design was fine but it felt like a downgrade from queen bee who had one of my favorite designs of the superheroes.

With the original design I didn’t care for how big and thick the black pieces were in front of her face and I didn’t love the stripes.

I decided to keep a lot of the V shapes but I softened them a bit. I also moved the antennas from the back to the front since she’s wearing a braid and they don’t make much sense to me where they are.

I changed her mask a lot (the original was kind of awful imo) and added little stinger details.

I don’t have much else to say, I wanted to stay somewhat close to her canon design but make her feel more bee like.

My hope for the paris special is that ladybug absolutely wrecks shadybug. Like it would be so funny because shadybug is all edgy and probably thinks she’s more dangerous than ladybug but LB is ruthless and if I’m interpreting the plot right shady has never faced a villain, her hawkmoth is a hero and is probably trying not to hurt her and claw noir because he knows they’re kids. But ladybug has been facing a hawkmoth who tells his akumatized victims to obliterate ladybug and chat noir. She’s jumped into the mouth of a T-rex without hesitation, deakumatized chat blanc, and faced chat noir, rogercop, evillustrator, and lady wifi one to four and disarmed them all within seconds. As for chat noir he trusts ladybug implicitly to the point where he jumped off a building with no powers trusting she’d catch him. I doubt claw and shady have ever needed to build such trust (especially since they’re fighting in the sneak peek). It would just be so funny if the the clean sweet peppy versions show up with their cute little pigtails and sunny blonde hair and absolutely destroy their edgy “evil” counterparts.

Where Adrien’s a prince locked in a tower by his father and Marinette is the bakers daughter who brings him his meals. Maybe he’s guarded by a giant moth monster or something.

Monarch re-design. I kept the idea of the stained glass motif but I changed it a bit. I wanted him to be overly extravagant especially as he’s kind of gone a bit mad with power at this point and is not in tune with reality. I gave him a silly reflective butterfly mask that covers his eyes and a giant butterfly cape.

The first monarch design was boring but it had aspects I liked like the hair and the stained glass butterfly. The second monarch design is just so incredibly boring. It’s worse even than hawkmoth and shadow moth because this is supposed to be him at his ultimate power and there’s nothing in the design to suggest royalty or excess.

I drew them again because they’re sweet.

No one asked for this but I wanted to draw what Emilie might have looked like with the peacock miraculous. I made her color scheme a lot less dark because she’s not a villain or anti hero and her transformation wasn’t used for fighting so I took the liberty of making it more fashionable than practical.

I just realized that my inbox is full and I haven’t answered anyone so here I’ll answer some of the questions that people have asked me because I feel bad for ignoring all these lovely people.

-Yes I’m okay, thanks to everyone for asking. I just didn’t post in a while because I’m mad inconsistent and also got busy with other things. This redesign series is just something I do for fun so if I don’t have time or get involved with other interests I might not post for a while.

- after I finish the superheroes redesigns I’ll do some of their civilian forms. I really dislike some of their outfits and think they could be improved in some ways. I’m also open to doing some akumas though I would have to be very selective on which I would do since there are just far too many for me to tackle without losing interest. I might even make some original heroes based on the miraculous in the North American box.

- I probably won’t do any of the New York special characters but you never know I could change my mind. I probably will do ladydragon from the Shanghai special but I’m still trying to figure out what direction to go with her since she technically doesn’t have a miraculous and doesn’t need to follow some of the design aspects of miraculous holders.

- I don’t know if I’ll do shadow moth with the ladybug or black cat miraculous since in the show he only had those looks for a very short amount of time, and since combining either cat or ladybug with both peacock and butterfly all together would be incredibly challenging to make a cohesive look. Like there are a lot of conflicting color palettes and motifs and I can’t see any way you could add cat ears to him without it being silly. Like honestly how do you turn shadow moth into a cat boy and keep him menacing, it’s something to ponder.

- I might do some season six lb and chat designs but I’ll probably wait to see what the show comes up with first to base mine off of. I generally like to take inspiration from canon when I can and just try to elevate those designs.

- some characters I haven’t done simply because I like the canon designs too much for example chat noir, shady bug, ryuko, and queen bee are all peak to me. That being said there are others that I also thought were peak that I either made small changes to or tried other directions with that I really enjoyed (bunnix, Rena rouge, Viperion, and purple tigress) so I might go back and do that to the other ones that I genuinely think have good designs.

- if anyone wants to use my miraculous art for fics, or draw any of my designs with credit I give full permission.

- finally I have a few redesigns that I’ve finished and have ready to post. I’ve got polymouse, ladybugs guardian upgrade, and the ice power ups for both ladybug and chat noir. I’m currently working on carapace and plan to do the water and space power ups next. I’m not super inspired to do Pegasus, minatourox, and king monkey but I do plan to do them I just need to play around with some ideas.

Guardian upgrade redesign. To be fair I thing the canon guardian design is far superior to the basic ladybug outfit because it has the black to break up all the red and just has more interest overall. I wanted to expand on that with my version. Whenever I make a ladybug design I like to really pull back on the spots because I think that fewer more and more intentional portions of red with spots are more striking and actually more reminiscent of an actual ladybug. I made this look more armored to be more beetle like, and replaced the pieces of hair sticking out with an additional set of ribbons in black. I like her a lot and think she works as an upgrade to my version of basic pre-guardian ladybug as well as a more interesting canon redesign.

Chat noir ice transformation redesign. To be honest chat noir is one of the few characters to have consistently good designs with a few notable exceptions (catsnake fusion). I guess it’s hard to mess up a simple black cat motif. For this redesign I kept most of it the same but added some black fur because I feel it would be a missed opportunity not to since he’s usually like a sleek black cat but fluffy ones exist as well. I also added a few more markings to his mask. Something fun I hadn’t noticed in the original design was how his hair had frosted tips and was lighter so I kept that because I thought I was cute with the snow theme. Also I don’t remember if they change their names when they use power ups, it would be silly if they do but also ice noir is a pretty cool name since it translates to black ice.

Ladybug ice power up redesign. I was going to wait a while to post this but I got impatient so here she is. While I liked chat noirs ice design lady bugs was so disappointing as most of her designs are. The best thing about it was the geometrical spots like snowflakes so I had to include that. I removed the little tiara because I hated it, and overall tried to add more detail to the costume. There are so many beautiful figure skater costumes to take inspiration from and the best they could do was a silly little crown smh. I gave her those figure skater leggings and a little sheer skirt that is meant to resemble wings. I also made a version with wings on the back but I think I like it better without. I gave her a bun to change up the hair a bit and an ombré on her legs so that the majority wouldn’t just be red with black spots. I think she’s very much improved and looks more like both a superhero and a figure skater.

Here are the ice power ups together. This is the first time I’ve placed my versions of ladybug and chat noir next to each other, I guess I should try to redesign chat noirs basic look but I love the canon design so much I don’t know what I’d change. Next I’ll probably do the water power ups and maybe the space ones. I’m still curious to know what the other unrevealed power ups do. The ones that are currently known both protect the users from certain environments/give them ways to navigate those environments but what other environments are there that would require a powerup? I guess one could make them immune to fire but other than that I have no clue.

Finally did carapace! I actually like most of his suit. The problem is in the shape of the hood, it just makes him look so goofy. The way the bottom of it turns up like that, just looks strange and it makes his head look even bigger. I changed the color palette a bit adding a bit more yellow toned greens and added a few more pattern details to the suit. I also gave him some headphones and replaced the silly goggles with a mask. If alyas eyesight can be fixed by the miraculous than so can his. I hope nino gets a bit more development. I think showing more of his dynamic with adrien would be cool to see as well as seeing his dynamic with marinette get fleshed out a bit.

I’ve finished the water power up redesigns but for some reason I still am not sure if I like them. I think it’s because I left the pink as a secondary color on ladybug. I’m wondering if changing it to blue would work better.

Here’s water power up lady bug. I’m not completely happy with her if I’m being honest but I think I like her more than the original. I feel like I would like the longer pigtails if they weren’t structured so much and moved like hair but I know that wasn’t in the budget. The best part of the original design is the fish scale pattern which is pretty genius so I had to keep that. I wouldn’t be surprised if I changed her in the future but for now I think I’m okay with this.

Here’s my water chat noir power up design. Again his look is pretty solid so I just added a couple more fins and some scale texture on the sides.
