"Do you want to live forever? " the words of a smiling doctor from an ad that ended the world echoed in Scars mind.
"No I don't" he thought back remembering the look on pepole's faces when their limbs started turning sickly green and twisting in unnatural directons "That's what happens when you try to live forever Jellie. You become a barin-eating monster." he said to his only friend in this plauged world.
The advertisement played from the broken tv that stood with half of it's screen shattered in the middle of a living room Scar found himself resting in after barely escaping the zombies. The sun was setting through big broken windows and the ruined city behind it looked like it was covered in blood. Scar was tired after a long day of running and hiding from the creatures that roamed the streets below. He neded to find a a safe place to stay for longer than a day. But not here.
The ad played one more time bringing him back to reality. "Of course this ad must be stuck on a loop" he thought annoyed and grabbed his baseball bat decorated nicely with stickers and blood and smashed the tv with it. The sound of a falling object might have alerted the zombies but he didn't care. As long as this damned commercial didn't play he was happy.
He went to the kitchen to search for food. Cupboards - empty, empty, a jar of old coffee, empty. He opened the fridge door trying not to look at the photos of a happy family that were attached to it with magnets from trips to different cities and countries. They were probably already dead. Or zombies. It didn't matter. What mattered was that the fridge was also empty. He was a little hungry but he had to last without food for the night.
At least Jellie didn't have to worry about food beacuse she showed him proudly the mouse she just caught. "Come on Jellie let's see if they have some cool books or stickers here. The rocket one got almost entirely scratched off"

Scar held his breath until the growls disappeared in the distance. He lifted the lid of the garbage container gasping for fresh air of the poorly lit alleyway. "Great I'm gonna stink now" he said to himself.
He picked up his backpack from behind the container where it fell. At least it didn't stink. He took out his torch and headed down the alley. Luckily zombies had bad eyesight. The torch was dying anyway so there was only a small chance they'll notice him. Find a shower and some batteries - he added to his list.
The alley seemed to streach on forever. Scars backpack started to feel a little heavy and he decided to rest for a while. He opened a random door to a small flat. He threw himself and his backpack on the couch. He closed his eyes and tried to empty his head.
Then in the silence he heard a noise. A noise he never heard before. It was coming from a room at the end of the hallway. Intrigued he peeked through the ajar door. It was a dark, messy bedroom with a lot of bookshelves. He went in and the noise came again. He looked around and noticed a small shape on the bed. "A cat" Scar stated suprised.
"Hi little one" he said "What are you doing here alone?". The kitten looked at him with its green eyes. Scar felt like it was asking the same question. "Well I'm here to enjoy one of a few moments not running away from zombies" he responded and his stomach growled.
He opened his backpack and took out a tuna sandwich. The kitten meowed at him. Scar never thought that a meow could be so human-like. "You're hungry too?" he gave Jellie - that's what he started calling her in his head - some tuna.
"So uhm. I haven't introduced myself propetly. I'm Scar. That isn't my real name I don't actually remember my name so I gave myself a new one. And you?" he asked and she meowed back
"You also don't remember your name? How about Jellie? I already started calling you that in my head. It fits you" Jellie responded with a meow of agreement
"You like it? Okay Jellie it is" smiled Scar. It was a long time since he smiled. And now he had a friend.
Not really angst but very fun and cute.
Before Scar met Jellie he could only talk to himself so he's very happy to have her by his side
