I remember reading an interview with Miyazaki and a fan asked if Kiki will ever be able to speak with Jiji again after the end of the film and he said ‘no’ and I’m sure it’s like some metaphor for moving on from childhood or whatever but it still makes me upset. 

Like, all Kiki did was get down in the dumps because people can be really selfish and callous and I just don’t understand why her ability to speak to her familiar was taken away just because she was shaken by being exposed to that? Everybody has moments where they question if what they’re doing is ‘worth it’ when faced with situations like that, it just kinda seems excessive for her to lose a witch power because other people suck and don’t appreciate what they have :/
