Haven't watched the most recent Dungeon Meshi episode yet but. Laios.
I have some thoughts about what I've seen. I can see what people mean when they say Laios has treated Izutsumi in an "inhumane way".
Like he very clearly sees her as more beast than person. Like a monster. And you know how he is about monsters. He's interested in their biology, physiology, and ecological habits, and their taste. Really from what I've seen, he treats Izutsumi more like an "interesting specimen" in contrast to everything he's seen that must be studied and dissected rather than an actual person.
Maybe the true dungeon was the meshi we made along the way!
