I think the funniest thing that came out of this episode is the casual lore drop that Ira has no fucking money and has to do odd jobs to fund his research projects and that he has been doing this for DECADES. Like this goddamn fey creature who looks like a nine foot tall Jack Skellington cosplayer stumbles into the material plane and even he’s affected by the job crisis.
Straight up while I fully respect the cast and their choices and get why things happened how they did. If that was me I would have butchered Yu so fucking quick my lord. Might have read their mind first but unless they could get the other assassins to back off they would be dead so fucking fast cause their manipulative bullshit had me so fucking heated.
what’s so interesting to me about imogen meeting birdie, is that it could be her own vicarious reunion with her own estranged mother. her delving into birdie’s mind and being standoffish because imogen has seen all of the wrong birdie has done, but also how birdie shirks genuine acknowledgement/accountability, and it’s like imogen is steeling herself against this, frankly put, great disappointment of a possible reunion with her mother. and while it’s a great disappointment, the pessimist in imogen towards humanity truly hardens because. It’s Not A Disappointment, Is It? this is how people are, this is how everyone is, (until, until, until..) and imogen stands there looking at this absent mother who is rationalizing every mistake and it’s another brick in her wall. imogen is concerned for fearne, and she’s terrified of the answers given that also apply to her and yet she stands her ground, she pushes back. she toughens herself up. the quiet, wavering girl in episode 1 is already a strong determined woman who will insist she’ll figure it out. she’ll do it. she’s strong. and it’s so so rewarding for imogen to finally acknowledge those small victories in the past amounted to foundational strengths.
that being said, what I wouldn’t give for liliana to take one look at her girl, throw her arms around her, and envelope imogen in an overwhelming wave of love. and imogen just stands there with tears down her face and arms at her side, realizing the wall was never going to keep liliana out. hearing her mother’s thoughts for the first time and it’s just a stumbling, sobbing outpour of love for her. and all of the disappointments of the world disappear in her mother’s arms.

Honestly I don’t really like the idea of Keyleth or any member of Vox Machina reviving Laudna. It just feels cheap to be like “oh a party member died let’s just go get a previous PC fix it!” It feels too easy. If Laudna is revived I want it be a hard fight for the party not just a quick run to a L20 PC.
Seeing a lot of posts that seem very sure of how things will play out so casual reminder that the only people who currently know what Marisha wants in regards to Laudna are Marisha, Matt, and perhaps to some degree the other players at the table.
You do not know what she wants. You cannot say that she definitely wants things this way or that way. You have not heard the discussions she’s had with Matt and the table. Assuming you know what she wants or is going to do is parasocial as hell and when things don’t shake out the way you’ve decided she wants them to, you’re gonna feel mad at Matt for “being unfair” despite him saying that his first priority is his players enjoyment and that he talks to them and finds out what they want to do before anything else.
Chill and remember this is their game and their table, I beg of you.
