Turns out the news was a paperback version of Karasu no Midoriba. Well, I Guess some Japanese may have really been looking forward to it, but I can't deny that I'm a little disappointed.

It will be released on the 9th of October.

the crazy thing is that proshipping really IS the default-- or it was for me, at least. when i was way younger, if i recognized an interesting character dynamic, i'd ship it. it started with billdip for me, and then i liked gumwin, and then i watched camp camp and was obsessed with maxvid, and when i started watching rick and morty i instantly loved rickorty. the only time i ever thought that i shouldnt ship what i wanted was when i saw people on the internet calling my ships weird or gross. i dunno, i just think i never would have been ashamed of shipping what i wanted to if anti rhetoric wasn't the norm online. i was happier when i just looked at fanart on google images and enjoyed my shows the way i wanted to. before i was ever really involved in internet culture. and i'm happier now that i've stopped feeling gross for liking the ships i like.

so to anyone out there who hides the fact that they're a proshipper just to fit into that hostile anti environment, i just want to say:

you are not gross. you are not creepy. you do not have to listen when someone calls your ship gross. the only person you should listen to is yourself. if you want to ship something, just do it. it's worth it. i promise. <3

Not people saying “Fandom has always been like this” in that vent post I made. No. It hasn’t always been like this. Fandom has NEVER been like this until recently and if you were in fandom pre-tumblr purge, pre-twitter, pre-netflix boom, pre-tiktok….then you would fucking know it was nothing like this.

We still had the drive to create. We still sold prints and charms and made zines…but it was never like this.

The introduction of streaming, binge shows that drop all at once, tiktok and vine RIP i still love u vine but you were the beginning of a particularly ugly era) creating this bite sized, quick paced ‘content’ era of creation and it bled out into fucking everything else.

Fandoms didn’t die down when the show ended or the season was over. You didn’t mass unfollow artist, writers or moots just because they changed fandoms. There wasn’t this need to please the algorithm in order for your posts to get seen by people and enjoyed.

Fandoms used to last YEARS. Star Trek is literally the oldest running fandom out there and you got people in there that could care less about the new stuff and still have been happily prancing through their fucking fifty year old fandom today. Hell, even SPN after all it’s fuckups and shitshows has a dedicated fanbase STILL creating tons of art and fic.

There is no patience anymore. No calm feeling of taking in fandom and friends at a pace that which doesn’t make you stressed and is still fun.

Do I blame fandom for this? Of course not, but people are complacent with it and start changing their vocab to accommodate and end up making the situation so deep it cant be fixed.

We call Art & Fic Content now, completely stripping the value of what it is to a level of consumerism instead of personal entertainment & community bonding.

It doesn't help when the streaming apps drop the entire season instead of weekly.

i really could write an essay on how shit is that we’ve completely abandoned the monster-of-the-week episode format even when rebooting shows that relied on it to replace them with grimdark edgy plotlines where nothing feels good or accomplished at the end of the day
