why didint the Uniimas just evolve lips?

Uniima are part of a group that evolved from wyverns.

Wyverns are mostly braked predators who don't have cheeks and rely on their tongues to keep prey/food inside the mouth. Cheeks would also limit how much they can open their mouths and both Uniima and wyverns are known for their strong and movable jaws.

Once the ancestors of Uniima stopped needing other wyvern features their lower eye domes have moved even lower (inside the mouth) and their tongues became more needed for manipulation.

Cheeks would make both manipulation and seeing harder.

In a way a Uniima's mouth really starts behind the throat cap. (correct way to kiss a Uniima would be on the throat cap)

A Uniima who lost their head in some way. Uniima have two brains and can kind of survive without the head one but it's not much of a life at that point.

This person's rich family decided they could try to expose them to physical magic in hopes it would regenerate some of their head (without success, which is extremely rare).

Now they are what's called a god - a being that doesn't really think and needs magic to survive (also gives off a lot of magic).

the way you draw your Uniimas is very good. The way that their body is shaped and how you define their musculature makes them seem like real animals, in that I can vividly imagine them moving in my head. I can even imagine what hugging one would feel like.your style is not hyper realistic yet it conveys all of the details it must and more.

I'm really glad I can do that and that u can hug a little one too. I often have a problem of addying too much detail on humans and giving them too much muscle and such. Uniima are just two mangos connected by a neck so they can be pretty easy to visualize in perspective, I like that.

I would love to squeeze one as well but I'm not sure if they would let me <:C

Some wyvern progress (they all still need work)

Great Maned Stalker wyvern

Big Fisher wyvern

A Horned Runner wyvern and Rock climber wyvern (most closely related of all 4)

The Maned Stalker is the apex predator of Foru fields. They are also a big problem in elven lands and in the uniima ll deserts and are considered invasive species. They gulp livestock like nothing and "throw" skin-melting toxins if you don't let them finish digesting (with their pouch full is hard for them to fly well). (their bites are also unpleasant)

Fishers are a less aggressive group of wyverns that feed on crustaceans, fish, small animals and some species are also scavengers. Some Uniima have managed taming them.

They too possess a toxin but since they are more likely to just fly off when in danger it's less strong than that of a stalker.

The Horned Runner is an only living member of its group. Unlike other wyverns it has two horns with bony cores (the norm is a small bone in a skin/beaky crest). It uses these horns in mating and defense but once one is uneven with the other it ruins their flying abilities.

Because of this they are somewhat better at ground hunting than others and can even partially live off plant matter.

The small Rock Climber has evolved from the two horned ancestors similar to Horned Runner but it's horn's bone cores have (almost) fused to create a bony crest. Between the two bones is it's more complex vocalization organ, almost resembling the one of Uniima C.

They are omnivores that can climb!

These are all just concepts at the moment and will likely change a bit and get their colors. And I will add some more like the giant wyverns that were hunted to extinction for their wings.
