I don’t know which part makes me more furious.

The fact that multiple people are literally saying it does not matter if it’s the real Jungkook or not and cheering on an impersonator. Because the fake Jungkook has a BLM link and a gender playlist and is doing all the Right Things. So yeah,the part where you say fans don’t listen to their words is projection. You do not even care if it’s their words or not?

Or that some fans are willing to steep so low and call for a fandom cleansing,to call others toxic and disgusting,because they fact-checked and broke their daydream and their fantasy Jungkook. Exactly as Taekookers do.

Also,are there any receipts on these “pathologic transphobes and homophobes” being the same people who harrass Nain because JK is her fan? That she is getting hate is very believable sadly but I’m gonna need receipts on that too. Maybe they are unrelated groups of people? Maybe they are girls younger than 19(which is an adult in korea) and their intention is not to paint JK as “predator” and the angle in this discussion should be a completely different one? Maybe they are the same ones who like those gender playlists? Would get pretty confusing for you lot then,no? I mean,who even are the bad guys who have to be exterminated anymore,then.

Also the fucking dumb western thing of some ppl changing JK’s pronouns because someone impersonating him liked a “gender” playlist. That is not woke,that is being brainwashed.

But you know,you’re gonna call me all those things anyway so go ahead. I think it’s homophobic and tone-deaf to say so casually that “JK might be questioning”,as if it would be the same as him getting a new tattoo or a new piercing. “questioning”. You mean,experiencing dysphoria which means he cannot look at his own body or stand to exist in it as it is now? Is this something you’d wish on anyone? Or just considering being the opposite sex because it might be less dangerous and it will give him rights he might not have as a gay man?

This used to a blog which was clear about how difficult life is for gay men in Korea,but you fail to grasp a reality many of us in “conservative fishbowls” as you so graciously describe it,know. That very often gay men transition because they’d just like to not get beaten when they walk down the street holding hands with their boyfriends,or they would like to not get arrested for being “degenerate perverts”. Those who transition do not deserve any hate,and need protection,but it’s not something to cheer on in such a mindless way just so you can show off your wokeness. Miss me with that performative “pro-queer” shit.

And another thing. I can accept Jungkook liking things I’m not a fan of. Like I used to be a fan of this blog too,even though I disagreed with a lot in it. Well,until it started painting rational armys in such an ugly light and asking they should be removed from the fandom.

But let’s say it was the real Jungkook liking the gender playlist. To him,a Korean gay/bi male artist who breaks gender stereotypes,that might have one meaning,such as freedom of expression and freedom to love whoever he wants.

But to me,a woman living in 2022,that playlist has a different meaning,and it only makes me flinch now. The “fuck gender” sentiment does nothing to change my reality,unsurprisingly. Instead it just turns out to make men really bold with expressing their undiluted hate and dismissing our every concern when women talk about sex-based oppression. I would have liked that playlist in 2018 when I was discovering these things and thought this was the height of progressiveness,but not anymore. These days the gender cult and the trans rights movement in the west and on the internet is mostly a misogynist and anti-lesbian movement. It has stopped being “educational” and stopped being about protecting minorities quite a while ago.

So,I won’t stop liking Jungkook if his real taste in playlists does not match mine,but I won’t be cheering on a hacker who uses someone else’s name to promote their agenda,just out of fear I’d be labeled a bad guy if I don’t.

Love when people bring up things JK said (and sometimes was prompted into saying) about girls when he was barely into puberty as concrete proof that he is straight. My friend group and I are nearing 30... only in the last year have a few of us had breakthroughs about our sexualities and gender identities. I still haven't reached a 'conclusion' about gender and I will probably grapple with it for years to come yet. These things are a spectrum, and they can evolve. My brother was asking out girls at 17, and out as gay at 18 - whereas my best friend, who is in a long-term relationship and only ever thought she could be straight, realised this year she is bisexual. Compared to South Korea, we live in an incredibly liberal society, where we had the luxury of figuring some of this stuff out in the open.

Who are we to hold any of these boys hostage to what they said or thought years ago as if that was the last word on the matter? JK could indeed be as straight as they come. But people trying to prove that shouldn't take his 15-year-old self's word as gospel. It's a piece of the puzzle, sure, but not the whole picture.

I am nauseous. And I’m sorry, anon. Your points are well made and I agree with all of them. It’s only reasonable that a closeted idol living in a conservative fishbowl might find some answers in the lyrics of trans artists, and it wouldn’t be the first time.
