a visible wave of relief washed over the were as the door opened. it was still chained shut so he couldn't see casey fully but he was answering him and that was enough. all those undermining voices in the back of his head telling him the man wasn't going to see him were rightfully silenced. taking a deep breath, his posture softening and loosening to show that he was already comfortable around the other, the features of his face betrayed him and tightened as alston realized this was the first time he'd ever come around without a wounded animal in his arms; without needing help of some kind.
"everything's fine," he blurted out quickly, the words feeling rushed and uncertain as his lips pulled into a forced and uncomfortable smile. "well, i didn't bring anyone with me at least." things were hardly fine. his home had burned, so many had been lost, and he was on the run... but that was hardly a conversation to have on someone's doorstep after not seeing them for-- what had it been now, months? a year? why was it so hard for him to keep track of time.

"beer." alston stated plainly as he held up the six pack in his hand, followed by lifting the bottle of whiskey to show them to casey as if the man couldn't clearly see him holding them. "i came to offer you some beer, or some whiskey? i wasn't sure what you liked..."
"oh, and to let you know that i've relocated to live here in alexandria and say hello... so... hello?"
yeah. you're killing it alston. definitely not awkward at all.
As a chronic misanthrope, Casey lives on his own on the edge of town, away from the bustle and hustle. Some peace and quiet, that is all he wants in life, really. Though compared to other nigh-immortal creatures his kind doesn't live that long but still, Casey feels like he has lived long enough to act like a grumpy old man. And he doesn't need parties or going out so this place suits him.
Naturally, it's quite unusual someone knocks on his door. It is clearly stated on his 'no soliciting' sign at the gate... But Casey is unfortunately not callous and impolite enough to simply not answer the door. What if someone's car broke down or has medical emergency? Grumbling, he drags himself to the door. Instead of fully opening the door, he cracks it open with the chain on and checks outside. "...Alston?"
He hasn't seen the werebear in... how many years, or months? He can't even remember (his sense of time is all over the place, sort of). He closes the door to unchain, and greets his old... client? Acquaintance? Friend? He is not sure. "Hey, it's been a while. So where's the patient?" Out of habit his eyes turn to Alston's hands. Usually, Alston brings injured animals. Not seeing any blood, fur or feathers, he looks back up at the other's face. "Everything okay?"

closed starter coleman x noah

it wasn't hard to find where noah was living. the dragonkin was his old friend and the entire reason coleman was here. he had tried to hold out for as long as he could, making a life for himself and using his powers of illusions to keep people from realizing that he wasn't aging like they were... but in all honesty? he got bored without having noah around.
most people would show up with a drink in hand, or call first to let a friend know they were moving-- or that they'd be arriving soon. not coleman.
letting himself into noah's home while he wasn't there, the djinn made himself comfortable-- as he always did. taking a shower that was longer than necessary, he finally sauntered out of the bathroom with nothing more than a towel wrapped around his waist and his body damp from the water and condensation as steam rolled out of the room behind him.

"oh good, you're home." he spoke up with the confidence of someone that had a right to be there, despite the fact he'd literally broken into his friends home. "you have decent water pressure but it just doesn't get hot enough, you should do something about that. your towels are nice and soft though." he mused. "you look good, by the way."
it had been years since they'd seen each other, since noah had moved, and yet coleman was carrying himself as if they had seen each other yesterday.
"well?" he questioned, expectantly, as he looked up at his old friend. "go on then, tell me how much you missed me."

@covenunveiled

it was almost charming how the younger man with him seemed to struggle with the idea that he might be attractive. that even as overdressed as he was that he might be that enticing for someone, anyone, to want to approach and talk too. "would calling you magnetizing be enough of a reason for myself?" wyne teased, an easy smile now seemingly permanently plastered on his lips as he kept himself leaned forward so the other could hear him.
he enjoyed the breach of personal space clubs and bars like this were known for. he enjoyed strangers hands on his body, shoulders bumping into him, people pushing as they passed and danced... but maybe that was because if he wanted to he could simply phase through it all. he couldn't though. in a strange twist, the uncaring half-ghost found himself furrowing his brows and reaching forward to catch the younger man's shoulders as he was pushed; staring after the stranger that had knocked into him as if he were rude for trying to pass by them. "you're fine. come on."

taking the other's hand, wyne held onto it tightly as he pulled him through the chaos. it was bound to overwhelm him as they marched through the belly of the beast but even as he dug their way through the dancefloor, he kept a sturdy hold on the boy's hand. guiding him through the noise until he'd finally reached the stairwell. leading them up to the second floor, he passed by one of the security officers and went through the process of buying a room for the two of them as quickly as he could; his right hand still not dropping from holding onto the other.
when they were finally in a lush, private room the music faded to a dull thud as the door shut behind them; sealing them away in borrowed privacy. "sorry," wyne mumbled as he gave the other's hand a light squeeze before finally letting it go, "i had to drag you through the thick of it just to get away from all the noise but at least, in here, we can hear ourselves think..."
"you really are out of your element down there, aren't you?" the half-ghost questioned with a mix of teasing curiosity and a hint of care. it was certainly more quiet and they didn't have to worry about people bumping into them or making them feel cramped but with the bowl of condoms, bottles of lube, and toys laid out on a table beside the plush king size bed in the center of the room and the dim, moody lighting the half-ghost wasn't sure how much better this would be for the younger man. "this is... better?"

"Oh...both? I'm clearly wearing more than most here!" Looking around the dance floor and most, if not all were shirtless or wearing something that showed off more than meets the eye. Harness, little booty shorts, you name it. "And...yeah, I just walked in. Why would anyone wanna talk to me?" They didn't know him. This guy certainly didn't look familiar to him.
The beating of the music felt like it was getting louder causing the werewolf more discomfort. "What are they....?"Though he cut himself off as someone bumped into him and he moved closer to Wyne. "Sorry." He whined out as he turned his head to lowly growl at the one that bumped him.
Ali turned his head back to the other and seen his hand holding out to him. He nodded his head as he took the other's hand in his. "Please. The music's getting louder. Take me somewhere quite."
