Literally nothing you do is safe from the CIA. There are numerous full-on spyware suites developed by them, mostly for iOS and Windows, but also targeting Android, Linux, OS X, and Solaris. Apps thought to be secure (Telegram with encryption enabled, WhatsApp, Signal) were compromised as well, as were a host of other devices (ie smart TVs).

If you live in a Shengen area country, your country likely hosts several CIA backed cyberwar experts. They came in via the US consulate in Frankfurt. If you don’t, you likely do as well, but I can’t find anything without sifting through the files myself.

“I have nothing to hide, why does this matter?”: Because there are now multiple thousand “zero hour”- ie “developers get zero hours to fix”- vulnerabilities floating around that no one had any idea existed. The vulnerabilities themselves weren’t leaked, but it’s the fact that someone knew about these and didn’t say.

I hate to make this kinda clickbait-y thing, but this is honest to God one of the most important leaks in history. Our response to this is pretty much going to be life or death for privacy in the developed world. Be loud about this, be annoying about this, and do not shut up about this. Please reblog this and other posts relating to it.

Mendel opened his mouth, but the prince sealed it with a hand. 

“Stay still, little mouse,” the prince cautioned, “I don’t want you getting hurt.”

He froze, and the last thing he saw before passing out was the Prince’s hand on his forehead, eyes flashing with triumphant delight.

When Mendel opened his eyes, he was in his library, flat on his back. 

“You’re awake,” the prince said, walking up. “Finally.” 

He scrambled up, backing against one of his bookshelves. They’d rearranged themselves, he noticed, so he must have been out for several hours.

“Don’t go running off, now,” the prince said. He was relaxed, Mendel noticed, casually leaning against another shelf, hands tucked in his pockets. “You wouldn’t do very well outside these walls without me.”

“Why?” Mendel asked, quiet. He didn’t need to ask where they were, but all he knew about the realm of the fae came from books.

“It’s a dangerous world for a mortal,” the other explained. “And there are others less… welcoming as I. As long as you stay by my side, you’ll be just fine.” 

After a beat, he held out a bowl of cherries. “Would you like something to eat? Jumping can take a lot out of those who aren’t used to it.”

Mendel hesitated, captivated by the crimson fruit. His stomach rolled. “No thanks,” he said, continuing to back away. He had some food hidden away in a corner, all he had to do was find it. 

“Why not?” The prince asked. “You need to eat.” He took a step forward, holding out the bowl again.

“No thank you,” Mendel said, firmer now that the prince was insistent. 

A muscle twitched in the prince’s jaw. 

“You cannot leave,” the prince said.

“I’d rather have the option than not,” Mendel replied. “And don’t worry, I have plenty of food to last me.”

A smile curved the corner of his mouth. “Clever mouse. How long do you think you’ll hold out? We have all of eternity.”

“That’s terrifying,” Mendel muttered. 

“That’s the truth. The sooner you give in, the sooner you can get used to this world.” He flicked his hand, and the bowl disappeared. “But it doesn’t matter.”

Mendel tilted his head, wishing he could summon up some courage. 

It does matter, he wanted to say. So long as I don’t eat it…

“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” the prince asked. “I wonder how your mind works.”

“You’ve mentioned that,” Mendel said, annoyed. “I want to leave. Don’t think I won’t try to escape- I’ll spend every second running from you.”

The prince stifled a laugh. “I’ll humor you,” he said. “Let’s say you do manage to find a means of escape- by then, you won’t be able to leave. Trust me, my borders are more than capable of keeping mortals inside.”

“I’d starve before trapping myself here,” Mendel said. The moment the words left his mouth, he knew it was a lie- there was something irresistible about the faerie realm, and he had his library…

“Confident, aren’t you, mouse?” the prince said.

“Okay,” Mendel relented. “So what if we make a deal?”

The prince tilted his head. “I’m intrigued. What does it entail?”

Mendel swallowed. “You don’t try to trap me here, or get me to accidentally fall into one of your traps.”

“And what do I get in return?”

“Everything’s you want,” Mendel said, “because I won’t try to escape.”

An eerie look of glee flickered across the prince’s face.

“I want to be able to leave if I want to,” Mendel hurriedly clarified, “but I won’t actively run away. I don’t want to leave my library.”

“And all I have to do is not force you to stay?” The prince said. “You have a deal, mouse.”

He nodded, relieved. After a moment of shifting back and forth on his feet, he said, “Um, how exactly do we deal the bargain?”

“A kiss,” the prince said, his face a mask of innocence.

Mendel wrinkled his nose. “Really? That seems a bit cliche.” He sighed, trying to quiet the pounding of his heart but failing miserably.

He stepped toward the prince, who made no effort to move toward him. He covered the remaining distance, until he was right in front of the other, craning his neck to look up.

“Well?” He breathed.

The prince crushed his lips against Mendel’s with a barely controlled fury, until any pretense of control Mendel was clinging to disappeared entirely, and it wa all he could do not to get swept away.

He gasped against the prince’s mouth, and the other pulled back, letting him drop in a heap.

An unbearable smirk danced across the prince’s face. “I’ll leave you to your books,” he said to the panting librarian, who still sat frozen in shock. He turned to leave, and said “I’ll be back with dinner.”

quick note about part twos- I’ll do them if I feel that the story should continue, but if the snippet ended with enough closure to work but still enough opportunity to make you want more, then I’ve probably done my job. If I think the snippet would be improved by a part two (which most of the time I think it could), then I’ll do it- but I just wanted you to know that a few won’t have a second part. This will, if ppl want it. :)

Or when neither of them know each others' identities while in a relationship. And the hero reveals who they are and the villan is shook! They start to question if they can continue their dubious deeds. Realizing who they have been hurting. Internally panicking about what to do!

Or when the villan and hero slowly start to understand each other and start having heart to hearts.

Or when the hero and villan through their many battles have gained great respect for each other. And when one dies the other is at first shocked but then grieves for the loss of that special person.

Or when the villan manipulates and persuades the hero into their plans. Always staying 3 steps ahead of the hero while teasing them. Creating a burning passion in the hero that balances on the thin line that is love and hate.

Or when the hero and villan had a past together before they became who they are. The hero trying desperately to bring back the person they knew and the villan trying desperately to get rid of the hero.
