Humans Are Weird

So there has been a bit of “what if humans were the weird ones?” going around tumblr at the moment and Earth Day got me thinking. Earth is a wonky place, the axis tilts, the orbit wobbles, and the ground spews molten rock for goodness sakes. What if what makes humans weird is just our capacity to survive? What if all the other life bearing planets are these mild, Mediterranean climates with no seasons, no tectonic plates, and no intense weather? 

What if several species (including humans) land on a world and the humans are all “SCORE! Earth like world! Let’s get exploring before we get out competed!” And the planet starts offing the other aliens right and left, electric storms, hypothermia, tornadoes and the humans are just … there… counting seconds between flashes, having snowball fights, and just surviving.

"Enjoying Dadzawa while also understanding canon is suffering"

Funny thing about that, when I got into the fanfic side of BNHA, I hadn't interacted with canon or the fandom in years, and the first fics I read were, by pure chance (and saturation) mostly Dadzawa fics.

And while I enjoyed them all, there was this weird feeling in the back of my head, like something is wrong, like, wasn't that dude kind of an asshole, at least at first?

It wasn't until I plopped out of the Dadzawa bubble and read a fic that has him be a lot closer to canon and the author commenting on that very fact, that I remembered everything.

So, yeah, this fandom nearly made my gaslight myself into believeng that Aizawa always was a good teacher!

(I still enjoy som good Dadzawa, but every now and then I just need to see the guy get roasted!)

I believe that every MHA fan needs the following:

A Villain poor little meow meow so that they're more willing to hear out the criticisms of society. (Mine is Toga if you hadn't guessed)

An understanding that Midoriya deserves everything, including all the parental figures.

An understanding that the above point is not necessarily canon compliant.

A willingness to acknowledge that this is okay

when I was 14 I worked in a grocery store and one day I got to bag Stephen King’s groceries and of course, being the little horror fiction nerd I am I was completely starstruck

I think he thought I was gonna ask for an autograph because I was not even lowkey staring I was full on moon-faced and bouncing and he kept looking over at me hesitantly like aw jeez kid fuck off

anyways I finally managed to squeak out that I was a huge fan and asked for advice on writing, “how do I write as well as you do?” in my horrible thick German accent and broken ass English and he gave me the best writing advice I have ever received

“shit kid, stop worrying about how other people do it and just write your story”

14 years later my wife and I nearly hit him with our car because he was jaywalking
