I actually cannot I swear I’m probably reading into this too much but I can’t help myself

Girlhood is sat on the floor with my bestie watching Monte Carlo with iced coffee and battenburg blondies

I love it when my brain splurges a story and I send a ten minute voice note to my friend explaining it and telling them a couple of detailed scenes and how I imagine them to play out

Okay thank you for bringing this to my attention cause the second I saw it I started to feel things about it and most of them are encapsulated in this here post.

Honestly I’m not sure how this is gonna go. Introduction of Tyson and Thalia (although that’s at the very end) will take up a lot of the time and the plot of Sea of Monsters is very full, so much happens in it and if they add things like they did in season 1 it’ll be jam packed.

In my opinion they won’t have the time to introduce a completely new character, as book readers we already know Tyson and Thalia so it’s easier but we don’t know who this Alison is and that will make it even harder to build up her character.

Plus we barely see Luke in SoM, just at the start on the Princess Andromeda and then when he fights Percy at the end so unless they do constant changes to Luke and Alison there will not be enough time for us to meet her properly and flesh out her character.

Plus if she is introduced just as a romance trope for Luke I may actually cry (and die) the point is that Luke is alone, he has been abandoned by his father, ran away from home, Thalia left him (not willingly), his quest left him scarred and angry and the only person who could save him was Kronos.

It may be that they introduce her as a redemption arc like oh he’s not as bad as he seems he’s got a new girlfriend but, repeat after me. That 👏 Is 👏 Not 👏 The 👏 Point 👏

Luke is the bad guy in this story, sure he’s not necessarily evil but he’s the bad guy and giving him a love interest does not change that. His redemption arc comes later in the series and it’s not with this Alison character.

This may be harsh but I just don’t see it working if I’m being completely honest. I don’t see why they need the change the books completely and add new characters.

However I will say that I saw this coming from a mile off, Luke is the handsome, slightly older character. He’s the premium character to force a romance upon.

That being said who wouldn’t want the chance to play opposite Charlie Bushnell in a romance

But yeah if they want to introduce a member of the army they could just introduce one of them that we already know from the book.

I think the fact it’s a girl definitely makes it seem like she will be a love interest but honestly I hope there’s more to it than that.

Anyway rant over and I guess we’ll see what happens

So word on the street is, the PJOTV show is introducing a new original character by the name of Alison.

The casting call is calling for actresses 18-22, and the description of her character is that she used to attend CHB as a child, but eventually aged out and moved on to the mortal world. She’s going to be featured as a member of Kronos’s army.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, new characters are cool, and I do think the demigods in Kronos’ army could benefit a lot from more development and fleshing out.

HOWEVER!

This show doesn’t exactly have a great track record of fleshing the characters out. Most of the established characters in the story still feel so hollow and require a lot more in order to feel like more substantial characters, and I feel like this new character is going to take away from that. It’s even worse when you consider that Rick is sticking with the same 8-episode format, and I doubt that the episode times are going to get any longer. As a result, this second season is probably also gonna suffer from time constraints, so I don’t know where they’re gonna find time to toss in a new character with all the other plotlines and character development they have to do. Something’s gotta give.

Lastly, I really hope this Alison character ends up being impactful, and isn’t just a romance tool for Luke.

And it is a bit of an odd ship but at the same time Hermione is literally me and is therefore my favourite character and also James my beloved
