Pran´s memories are always coloured in sepia: dull, monotonous and melancholic. They show how it hurts to remember, what it could have been and never was, the hope that turned into anger, sadness and deception.

Pran´s POV is laced with regret, pain and a tinge of hopelessness.

Pat´s memories once he realises he is in love are the opposite: vibrant, bright and so warm. Sharp red and green (oh, the symbolism), soft yellow, Pran is dazzling in his mind. He remembers them together with sweet nostalgia and tenderness. The memory, not of a crush, but of a sweet puppy love.

Pat may have not realised that he loved Pran then, but his mind provides the answer for him: he always did. He simply couldn´t put it into words, he just felt it.

And then you have the lines of the song: "Don´t need to feel insecure, or read between the lines, I can´t make sense of what you´ve done" and everything slots into place. For Pran in the past, for Pat in the present.
