He was at a complete and total loss. Because you hated it. You kneeled in front of the mirror and grasped at the ends of your hair which ended too quickly for your liking. This is what you asked for, so you couldn’t be angry, but you regretted it so much because you’d have to wait weeks to get it back. Still, to him, “I think you look really pretty.”

You whipped your head around with a curious and sad look on your face, “Really?” You turned your head back to the mirror, trying to recognize yourself in it but instead looked at Kai through the glass.

He nodded, meeting your gaze in the mirror, “Really.” His voice was soft and reassuring as he continued, “I mean, I think you look beautiful no matter what. But I’m a big fan of this haircut. It’s my favorite look on you.”

You couldn’t help but smile and flush a bit at his words, looking back at yourself in the mirror. A weight was dropped from your shoulders and you began to think maybe it really isn’t that bad after all… You continued to examine your hair in the mirror.

“It’s just so short Kai,” you muttered, running your fingers through your hair. “I feel like a completely different person. Like I’m unrecognizable or something.” 

Kai stepped closer to you and placed his hand on your shoulder, “Well.. I don’t think that’s totally true but it’s also not a bad thing,” he said, giving you a reassuring squeeze. “I guess change can be weird sometimes, but it also has this fun liberating feeling! Besides, I think you look really hot with your hair like this.”

You laughed and playfully smacked the hand that he had rested on your shoulder. You looked at him through the mirror and could see in his eyes that he was admiring you and was being sincere. 

You let out a sharp sigh, “You know, I think you’re right. It looks good,” you said, feeling a newfound confidence. “And it’ll grow back eventually. It’s fine. I look good!”

Kai gave you a big toothy smile, “Yes, exactly! This is what I want to hear!”

“Thank you, Kai,” you said, turning to face him. “I seriously don't know what I’d do without you. I’m glad you like it.”

His heart jumped at the way you looked at him, and his expression was soft. He leaned to kiss you on the forehead, playing with the strands of your hair. "I love it," he said, and you knew he meant it. "And I love you, no matter what you decide to do."
