Which one of you is Bernardinosdaddy? Because I love you and you are blessed for this Urban Dictionary entry. Mister Dmitri Tippens Krushnic is more Russian than vodka. 😂

I do find it interesting, and by interesting I mean heartbreaking, how differently both brothers saw Dean’s role in Sam’s life when they were kids. Yes they both acknowledge that Dean acted as a parent to Sam, but when it comes to their expectations about what Dean’s responsibility was to do that, that’s where they differ.

To Sam, Dean was his big brother. His big brother who stepped up and took care of him and was there for him in a way John was not. He went above and beyond what was expected of him and acted not only as a brother, but a mother and a father as well.

But to Dean, it was his duty to be all of those things for Sam. He expected himself to be the brother and the parent Sam deserved, and when he inevitably fell short of what he believed he needed to be for Sam (of course he did, he was a child too), he blamed himself for it.

Sam expected Dean to be his big brother, and is grateful for everything else Dean tried to be for him too.

Dean believes since he didn’t perfectly fulfil every familial role in Sam’s life, at all times, he didn’t do enough.

A+ work there John Winchester…
