I think something ppl, especially younger folk, really need to understand is that just because someone exists in a progressive space doesn't necessarily mean that they are actually interested in progress. Many people will use the rhetoric of progressivism for nothing but their own ends. Some people want plausible deniability when they commit terrible acts. Some people want a reason to bully other people without feeling like a bad person. And some people simply aren't interested in practicing what they preach.
I'm not saying this to say never trust anyone. But if you get a bad feeling about someone and all you can think is "they can't be bad! They share the same opinions that I do!" Then maybe don't write off those suspicions right away. Actions speak louder than words, after all, and if their actions contradict their words, then that's a red flag you shouldn't ignore.
Shuffle your favorite playlist and post the first five songs that come up. Then copy/paste this ask to your favorite mutuals. đź’–đź’•
American Idiot - Green Day
Badtameez Dil - Pritam, Benny Dayal, Shefail Alvares
Mary Jane’s Last Dance - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
F Wonderful World - Ano
Rebirth Protocol - Vein.fm
Also I didn’t realize I was your favourite mutual, that’s very sweet of you! I shuffled these songs out of my Repeat playlist so I guess I play them often lol.
…i’m still thinking about the anti-horikoshi pride flag callout post i saw earlier forgive me

I think people are also forgetting McDonalds, Starbucks, Pizza Hut etc, have branches all across the world, not just in America or Canada. I guarantee you that most people in India don’t give a shit about boycotting or whatever unless they’re chronically online or something, which is why a global boycott like this would never work. These companies have far too much influence and are immensely popular all around the world. Leftists like to cite the Montgomery Bus Boycott as an example of it working, but that’s because it was targeted towards a specific bus system, which is specifically in Montgomery, Alabama, not exactly a prevalent company that makes millions all over the world. Just cause Twitter user catgirlballs says that we should boycott these companies, doesn’t mean that what they say has any merit in the real world and grand scheme of things. These companies have a cemented legacy, and whether online leftists like it or not, they’re not going away or losing business any time soon cause a bunch of random people on dying websites were encouraging to boycott.
(Also super anecdotal but I went to the mall today and all of these places were literally packed with people, so really I don’t think this so called boycott is gaining much traction anywhere)

It should not be partisan to say a social media lie is literally not happening in real life. People are not factually correct just because they're angry, and posts are not automatically true just because they have a lot of likes and everyone on your feed is sharing them. If this needs to be said to you in the year of our Lord 2024, your brain is mushy potatoes. Do these people watch all of the commercials on TV of other fast food chains advertising deals and think they're all going broke due to boycotts, too??
anyway here's what I found with a .2 second Google search
