Song #85

Tightrope by The Greatest Showman

It was released on December 8, 2017, by Atlantic Records

Fun Fact: "Tightrope" comes as P.T. Barnum takes off on tour with "Never Enough" singer Jenny Lind as The Greatest Showman enters its third act, leaving behind Charity and the couple's two daughters for the aristocratic glamour he always aspired for. At times delicate and rousing at others, "Tightrope" is a waltzing, emotional ballad performed by Michelle Williams' Charity that sets up Barnum's fall before his inevitable redemption. It accompanies a montage that juxtaposes the past and present of Jackman's lead, highlighting both how far he's come and how much he's strayed from his ideals.

Song #83

Happier by Marshmello (ft. Bastille)

It was released on August 16, 2018

Fun Fact: Bastille saw potential in the song as a collaboration and hooked up with Marshmello to add some of his EDM beats. They were surprised with how the American producer was able to produce an upbeat song from such downbeat lyrics. "We had a really interesting time getting to work on it with Marshmello who managed to find some euphoria in a pretty melancholy, direct song," Smith told NME. "It's always good to step into somebody else's world for a minute and we're excited to be a part of it."

Song #101

God Must Hate Me by Catie Turner

It was released  on November 23, 2021

Fun Fact: "I was looking at someone I thought was a mirror for everything I was lacking… and was in the thick of comparison,” Turner said of the song. “Then, when I took it to my good friend, Johnny Shorr, he challenged me to take the song deeper, tapping into emotions that were unprocessed and raw; I haven’t let myself fully feel those feelings."

Song #95

The Milk Carton by Madilyn Mei

It was released on January 20, 2023

Fun Fact: It's a song about feeling lost and disconnected from one's home and past. The coyote represents the scary and unpredictable aspects of the world outside the familiarity of home. The refrain "And the birds don't talk like the ones on screen, have they really domesticated me?" suggests that the narrator feels trapped and isolated, possibly comparing themselves to a caged bird. The line "Say, is that the kid from the milk carton? Can I do anything when I'm also missing?" hints at the idea of feeling forgotten or lost, like the missing children on milk cartons.
