So Waterdeep has a culture of being super nice, right? I don't think it's accurate to compare them to the southern US, because I think someone said the inspiration was different, but that's similar to what we're working with here.

Me, I kind of envision it like a late-in-life autism diagnosis (or most other disabilities/chronic illnesses, I imagine). The "oh fuck, that's what's been going on this entire time? This is just who I am and always going to be? That explains so much!" And then later the "oh shit... this is who i am always going to be. There's no changing that." Followed by acceptance, obviously, because honestly what else are you gonna do
