Sasuke poking Sakura's forehead still fucks me up so badly. Here's why.

Not just for the most obvious reason, that is, that gesture meaning the world to Sasuke - it's his ultimate expression of love, he just couldn't think of a better nor more meaningful way to declare his devotion. With that simple gesture, he's promising Sakura everything - that he'll be back, that they'll see each other again, and that she'll finally be by his side. He's promising her they'll be together together, he's promising her a better version of himself, a family - like I said, everything, but only after he feels like he's worthy and deserving of it, meaning after he atones for his past sins.

But what fucks me up the most is that he poked her on the forehead, of all freaking places. That's just how Itachi used to do it, but knowing how Sakura felt about her forehead when she was younger? Wow, just wow.

And speaking of her insecurities, what's another one? Yes, not being enough, not being as strong as Naruto and Sasuke, being weak. Sakura constantly thinks she's not good enough, and what's a tangible proof of her strength? What's a tangible proof that she has, indeed, come a long way since her genin days?

The seal on her forehead.

The body part she used to be the most insecure about literally displays how much she was able to grow and how much she had to overcome to become the powerful kunoichi she is.

See where I'm going with this?

It's so heartbreakingly beautiful that Sasuke's ultimate expression of love is also something that is capable of completely erasing Sakura's insecurities, because not only she used to be ridiculed for her forehead, but the forehead itself is also where the tangible proof of her new found strength is - the same strength she always wanted Sasuke to acknowledge.

And that's why she was so mesmerized by the gesture without even knowing the magnitude of his meaning to Sasuke.

Because it just meant the world to her as well.
