WISHFUL THINKING
Why does the world feel as though a knob had been twisted to heighten the speed?
True, the clock ticks the same, and the sun and moon have had their timely waltz as per usual in a manner that history and scientific books could verify, but somehow, it all feels like everything is merely captured in a digital camera that's encapsulated in these metal casing — a difficult enclosure to escape from — all while someone's behind it, lingering their fingertip on the fast-forward button, getting entertained out of what seems to be jelly-like humans that wiggle rapidly, or scampering-like ants that toil their days to satiate their needs and need for survival.
I don't know if this is a normal thing normal people obssess or think about, but it would be nice if that someone could let go of that button and allow everyone to live in a pace that they are comfortable with. Wherein no one is shamed for being too slow or too fast in life.
Although.... That may be wishful thinking. But it's just saddening to know that there once was a time where time felt slow — sure, life was more difficult with the lack of technologies here and there — but the cost of living was lower, and people were probably much closer without the hindrance of devices. Maybe that's still possible today. But somehow..... I'm feeling nostalgic for a yesterday that was never mine, but rather, a shared one that I may have romanticized and couldn't have seen the entirety of its picture. Maybe the land of today is better. Maybe the past is better. Who knows.
But one thing for certain is that everything feels too fast to be comprehended, and there's nothing more I'd like than to slow down and take these learning curves at my own pace. Maybe that's wishful thinking. Maybe (part of it) is not.
