Topless Scene Complaints

It may just be my imagination, but I think some viewers are pissed off about Tyene doing something she would never normally do in the books by showing herself topless like that.

I mean, it’s not like they warned viewers a million freaking times before this season aired that there would be more and more differences between the show and the books as time went on.

That topless scene was completely unnecessary, but a lot of nude scenes on this show are. Sometimes their purpose is just to be sexy for no other reason than being sexy. The fact of the matter is that this happens to both men and women in television to varying degrees, but people seem to complain about it FAR more when it’s a female character doing it than when it’s a male character doing it.

I’ve seen just as much of a sexual attraction from men to a woman’s exposed breasts as I’ve seen from women to a man’s muscled torso. Like there is no difference. As an example, Oliver from the show Arrow can workout without a shirt on and that’s perfectly fine, but Tyene can’t show her breasts without people whining about it.

For some reason, a lot of people have got it into their heads that strong women should be sexless, desireless shells that don’t want to be seen as attractive, which is utter nonsense. You don’t need to forsake being human to be strong, and having desire, wanting to be desired, is not a weakness at all.

This is a fairly ridiculous double standard that’s become a real problem. A man can expose 99% of his body on television for no story related reasons whatsoever and no one complains about that, a woman shows off her breasts and suddenly people are pissed.

Yes, Tyene wouldn’t have done that in the books. This show isn’t the books, not exactly. You’ve been warned time and again that there would be changes. Voila! Changes! Shocker! How could we have ever seen that coming with all the warnings we’ve received?
