Desperately Attempting To Figure Out My Numidium Design While Also Trying To Do Perspective Practice

Desperately attempting to figure out my Numidium design while also trying to do perspective practice and failing at BOTH lets goooo, life of an artist. Note that this is a heavy WIP. This is my third attempt and it only gets marginally better each time. I think when I get the forest fully rendered out it'll be more obvious how big this thing is but God help me why did I have to fixate on the one part of TES lore with the mech when I CAN'T DRAW METAL

I've been seeing a bunch of posts about "why didn't the government do anything in advance" Here are things that were done:

Massive amounts of food, bottled water, medical supplies, and beds were delivered to strong buildings designated as shelters in every town.

The National guard was sandbagging everything they could and knocking on doors all along the coast trying to convince people to evacuate. They were literally going door-to-door.

The government paid for free Uber rides to shelters and provided free buses to evacuate. Unfortunately it appears not many people knew about it.

The government organized and prioritized getting gas stations refilled along evacuation routes. It wasn't enough but it would have been much worse without official help. They also organizes tow trucks to get dead cars off the roads.

Everyone will probably get the same aid Helen victims got - $750 instantly to anyone with ID showing they lived in a hurricane damaged area, and then thousands to tens of thousands to help rebuild or move later on, once there are more detailed damage assessments and victims fill out a request for aid.

The government also speed ran trying to get debris from Helene off the streets before Milton so it wouldn't become projectiles (again not enough but they managed waaaaay more than expected), and will be the ones clearing roads tomorrow ASAP.

Heck, the government runs NOAA and is what told people approximately where it would hit and with what power days ago. They were the ones that did all the research to build the devices that let them make predictions like that. They were the ones flying into the storm to get windspeed measurements every couple hours.

Tomorrow the government will be delivering more generators and gas and bottled water, and a fleet of ambulances and firemen to rescue people.

Yeah we could do better. We could always do better. Florida needs better building codes in storm surge zones for one thing.

But to say the government did nothing? Nah, that's not true. It's not true at all.

FuckNoWriMo

Here's my official Writing Challenge Post for anyone who wants to play along.

FuckNoWriMo will be held December 2024 for this year only, and will be held in March from 2025 on. Due to the terminology being used, this is probably an 18+ event, but I swore like a sailor at 12, and it's not like I can stop you from participating.

How to Participate:

Decide you want to write during the month of the event.

Write.

Bonus!

3. Post and share that you're writing, and what you're writing if you want \o/ 4. Tag your posts with #fnowrimo or #fucknowrimo

Want more structure? Certainly, allow me.

Pick one of the categories to run with and set that as your goal for the month:

A Word, if I May?: Write at least 31 words for the month.

Get That Shit Outlined: Write at least 1,000 words for the month. (33 words a day)

Give it the Gusto!: Write at least 5,000 words for the month. (162 words a day)

Hell Yeah, Write!: Write at least 10,000 words for the month. (323 words a day)

Words At Work: Write at least 20,000 words for the month. (646 words a day)

Punctuated: Write at least 35,000 words for the month. (1,130 words a day.)

Fuck It: Write at least 50,000 words for the month. (1,613 words a day)

Crazy 88 (it's a Kill Bill reference): Write at least 100,000 words for the month. (3,225 words a day)

Please note you may write anything:

An outline, several outlines, rough draft(s), poetry, journaling, lyrics, role-play with your friends, a campaign idea for a table top game, the script for a movie, show, visual novel, etc., notes to defend your dissertation, recipes, to-do lists - you get the point.

If you want to breakdown the granular concepts of an old historic text on index cards for shits and giggles, that counts too!

The event is less about the quality of the end result, and more about creating a habit to write daily. If you don't want to spend a lot of time fixing and editing a harried rough draft, then don't worry about the word count at all.

0 is a valid word count for the day. So is 1, or 10, or 100 or all those little numbers we often get discouraged seeing.

But set aside some time during the month, and write some fucking words, hell, write some words fucking. A real alphabet orgy. Be silly, weird, cringe, strange, gross, problematic, thematic - whatever \o/

Just write it yourself. I don't care if you dictate it, use the hunt and peck method, a pen, pencil, quill, or chisel.

But for the love of all that's holy -

No Generative AI

That's the only rule.

It's Exploration Day again!!

Exploration Day

October 3rd is a significant date in Astra Planeta, due to a series of important historical coincidences:

> 10/03/1957 was the day Sputnik 1 was launched into orbit

> 10/03/2018 was the day humans first set foot on Mars

> 10/03/2036 was the day the Ariadne probe discovered unequivocal evidence of complex life in the subglacial ocean of Europa

> 10/03/2145 was the day the MiMUS probe returned the first images of the alien ruins on the Uranian moon Portia (although the investigation took more than a week to conclude on the alien nature of said ruins)

> 10/03/2191 was the day humans first set foot on a world in another solar system: Calypso, a life-bearing moon in the Proxima Centauri system

Exploration Day, therefore, is a celebration of peaceful and responsible cosmic curiosity that carries on the spirit of the people who expand our horizons. People of all walks of life, from all inhabited worlds across space, celebrate October 3 as the holiday of human wanderlust and the joy of understanding; hopeful that we will forevermore venture forth with humility and compassion, and never lose our way again.

Happy Exploration Day!
