buddy it already has 160k notes and it's barely slowed down in two weeks. that ship has fucking sailed
had a fucking hilarious dream that tumblr replaced the "block" function with the far funnier "glock" function, which did the exact same thing except whenever anyone blocked you a random bullet hole, like a png of a bullet hole, would appear on your blog. discourse blogs were unreadable bc you'd go to the page and the sheer amount of bullet hole pngs stacked over the blogs obscured everything. I woke myself up laughing

I know this is the original but I actually think the right triangle is funnier
dafuq did I just watch
what i love most about this tumblr poll era is that all of us immediately decided to unleash every single social behaviour experiment of the last century onto each other in a way that would make even the hardiest of psychologists tremble. it's like if lab rats saw what the scientists were doing and decided to cut out the middle man
You guys ever heard about the bone wars? My memory of the story is foggy, but in Britain back when Dino fossils were the hottest thing on the block, and every paleontologist with a 1/4 cup of a brain was hot on the trail of dead dinosaurs.
Specifically, two paleontologists named Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope were both trying to make the next big discovery. This led to a bitter rivalry between the two researchers which started the bone wars.
The wars consisted of many attacks, like having their teams throw rocks at them other’s, stealing and destroying each other’s fossils and slandering each other in every paper they wrote. By the end, both men were financially and socially ruined.
Of course it wasn’t all bad, both cope and marsh made many great discoveries, including the discovery of 136 new species, however…
This childish conflict, along with the general stupidity and carelessness of most early paleontologists and fossil collectors, led to a metric FUCKTON of confusion and misinformation which resulted in things like the wrong fossils going to the wrong dinos, or members of the same species being confused for different species, among other things.
Fun fact! The resulting confusion of the bone wars in Britain is very likely the inspiration behind the fossil Pokémon of the Galar region.
