Theresa May in a press conference today got criticised for mostly taking questions from male reporters and only letting one woman speak; when she was called out on this she replied

“You’ve had answers from a woman prime minister”

She then smirked and walked off, clearly very proud of her comeback

But this attitude is exactly the core of why liberal feminism is a joke and why I hate the corporate takeover of IWD

In her mind, her individual success as a woman was more feminist than using her position to help women as a group

The singular achievements of one woman for herself, especially if she is a CEO or head of state, are not feminist, if you don’t care for the plight of all women, or worse, actively hurt other woman for your power, you are not being feminist

Climbing up a ladder constructed from the bodies of vulnerable women does not make you a feminist, we should be dismantling that ladder and making a world where none of us are dehumanised and oppressed
