I don't have much right now but:

Sojiro would be the grandmother (uncle in this case) and was married to Wakaba and had Futaba. Both he and Futaba survived. Wakaba didn't.

Ren was naturally given a music box but the key to it is shaped like a lotus flower. He goes by Akira when he loses his memory of his past.

Shido would be Rasputin with Goro as a (reluctant) accomplice. He blamed the royal family for his mother's death (they were poor) which is what caused him to get dragged into Shido's revenge scheme.

Goro has actually encountered Ren before when they were little kids, Ren had a habit of sneaking out and found Goro sitting by himself one day and the boy goes back to snatch some bread to give to him. Goro didn't expect such kindness in his life and the memory stuck with him (he didn't know who Ren was and thought he was a commoner like him though).

Not sure who to have the parents (maybe Tatsuya and Jun?) be but I was planning on having Ann, Haru, Makoto, and Sumire be Ren's adoptive siblings before that fateful night happened.

Ryuji and his mother were servants. He was caught stealing during that party but Ren stopped the staff member from punishing him. He kindly gives the boy the apple he took and that was when Ryuji develops a childlike crush.

Ryuji also helps them escape but he gets knocked out and his leg injured when interrogated.

The events play out the same as the film when Sojiro, Futaba, and Ren were escaping. Ren falls trying to catch up to the train and hits his head. He is lost in the crowd as a result.

Fast forward and Sojiro offers a reward to anyone who can find him. He and Futaba are met with disappointment each time as they encounter imposters and con artists. Sojiro grows more bitter and cynical while Futaba still tries to hang on to the last hope she has left...

Ryuji, meanwhile, is all grown up. He has a limp as his leg never fully recovered and he lost his mother. His only friend and companion now was Yusuke, whose mother had visited the palace once or twice before her passing so he has a bit of knowledge from her. Word spreads to them about the reward and Ryuji is willing to take that opportunity while Yusuke is actually reluctant (he is more cautious and wary about his friend's schemes). They eventually agree and set out to find someone to pretend to be the lost prince and claim the reward.

Ren, now Akira, leaves the orphanage he stayed in to search for his own family. Due to the inscription on his necklace (his only clue), he decides to head to Paris. He is later accompanied by a stray cat who he names Morgana.

He eventually reaches the abandoned palace (his home) and is suddenly hit with haunting nostalgia and familiarity ("Once Upon a December" (thank you Xander and Robbie for confirming that Akiren CAN sing!)).

Ryuji and Yusuke find him and immediately notice the strong resemblance to the lost royal and convince him to accompany them to Paris.

They are, unfortunately, unaware that someone has learned that the last member of the Kurusu family has escaped the curse all those years ago and is dead-set on finishing the job...

His gameplay looks extremely fun, his showtime is so cool, and his dynamic with the team just. . .it’s so cute. I’m happy the gang has a new uncle~
