love next door is such a bummer of a title in comparison to the korean one. it does the original no justice at all. 엄마친구아들, or 엄친아 for short, literally means mom's friend's son. a term popularly used to refer to that one perfect guy who just so happens to be the son of your mom's friend. he's academically smart, athletic, probably musically talented as well, is well-mannered, and on top of that all — he's good looking. and you know moms. especially asian moms. you get compared to him just about all the time. which is why it's such a cute title, fitting perfectly to seunghyo's character. love next door is just. well. it describes the theme of the drama i guess.
