Sharkyanchors - Fish Are Friends, Not Food! - Tumblr Blog
Fin-to-fin synchronised swimming, thought likely to be part of courtship, has been seen in groups of basking sharks for the first time in the Hebrides, Scotland. Video cameras were temporarily attached to the sharks and gave scientists an unprecedented view of their hitherto secret underwater world. Photograph: University of Exeter and NatureScot

Plerogyra sinuosa or Bubble Coral
Appropriately named, the bubble coral is covered in bubble-like polyps that are filled with water; these can develop in different colors and shapes. The polyps also contain zooxanthellae, causing the bubbles to expand during the day and retract at night.
Today is Wet Beast Wednesday!
Today's wet beast is: Sarcastic Fringehead
Olive's Wet Beast Fact: these weirdos are very aggressively territorial. When two of them have beef, they fight by pressing their distended mouths against each other, making it look like they're kissing
Stay tuned for more Wet Beast Wednesdays!
A few weeks ago, a young girl saw this rare Argonaut - often called a Paper Nautilus - washed onto the beach at East Cape Conran. She told locals about it and Myke Mollard went and picked up the little dude then released her back into deeper water. Hopefully survived; such a classic ‘animal’ of nature. Enjoy! Chlamydoselachus anguineus or the Frilled Shark
Frilled sharks have been swimming in our oceans for about 80 million years! Despite being a shark, its movements are incredibly eel-like. When hunting prey (their preferred meal is squid), they will open their jaws and swallow them whole.
i learned that an Australian Fisherman caught a tiger shark and brought it to a local aquarium. The shark puked up a human arm in front of spectators. Investigators were able to distinguish that the arm was not bitten off by the shark, but was cut off and then eaten. The investigation led to a murder charge (x)

imagine if aliens found the dead body of a human being exploded in the vacuum of space and they started making fun of the mutilated corpse calling it “splatter alien” and saying it was the ugliest alien in the whole galexy. and then made stuffed animals of it to sell to their alien kids. that’s what happened on this planet to the blob fish
