Yeah, this does sum up Muse and Matt's approach to writing and themes. When asked if he feels it's important to I guess be political or have a message to the world, he just says, not necessarily, and he's just singing about things he's interested in and that he sees happening around him.

This interview was on the Drones tour in 2016, and as Matt was talking about mechanisation, he also hinted at being interested in and wanting to explore themes of artificial intelligence, which did end up going on to be Simulation Theory!

I'm doing unnatural selection first bc I've just been learning the bass part, and it's both chromatic and jumpy, which is interesting to me.
