Okay, so Funny Story™ about my life and also rice cakes: So, when I was younger and my family less educated about Autism, I used to be on a Gluten-Free AND Dairy-Free diet. Why? Because my parents thought that consuming either would “make my autism flare up” or something like that. IDK *where* they got that info from (probably conformation bias or something) but my diet went on until I was in 7th grade or sometime similar (it was a while ago, so it’s fuzzy) Anyways, instead of bread and sandwiches, my Mom got me these caramel corn rice cakes and put peanut butter in the middle as a replacement for Peanut Butter sandwiches. On occasion, she’d make a gluten free bread, but most of the time, it was PB Rice Cake Sandwiches at least once a day. The way I ate them was messy. I’d go through the middle every day and not stop until I physically couldn’t, which would get my cheeks covered in PB. Rice Cakes are really crumbly, so half of it would end up on the floor (much to the chagrin of whoever was sweeping), and whenever I made my own, I’d add, like, 4x the amount of PB that my mom would usually add. After a while, I was eventually allowed to get off that diet and seldom look back on it. Though to this day, I still haven’t drank real cow’s milk.

*lemony snicket voice* police cars say ‘protect and serve’ for the same reason a box of dry, unflavoured rice cakes might say ‘delicious treat’. rice cakes are not a delicious treat, nor are the police there to protect and serve, but if you are unfamiliar with either you’re likely to believe what you’re told.
