Pterry's signature humour is still developing in the first two Discworld books, so this pun at the end of Light Fantastic ambushed me like a non-guild thief in a Morporkian alley and had me suppressing a very big laugh in a very crowded restaurant.

"'There was a whole bunch of people across the street helping themselves to musical instruments, can you believe that?'
'Yeah,' said Rincewind, picking up a knife and testing its blade thoughtfully. 'Luters, I expect.'"
i'm so glad nobody really tries to do a "modern take" on the grim reaper because can you imagine how lame it would be if your time of death was recorded on an apple watch or something instead of an hourglass
